First of all, Happy Mother's day everyone!

We celebrate Mother's Day to honor the hard work that our mothers done to raise us and take care of the household. They are our role models who we look up to for guidance and in our time of need.

My Favorites

Bulma Briefs
Bulma Briefs
Bulma Briefs - (Dragon Ball Z) She is a favorite character of mine in the Dragon Ball franchise. She's a smart woman who married to the Prince of Saiyans, Vegeta. When Future Trunks came to the present, Bulma and he got close despite not being technically related due to different timeline. She aid Trunks and the Z warriors in defeating the Androids and Cell. In Future Trunks's timeline, Bulma risks her life to provides support for her son who also risks his life to save others from the sadistic Androids.
Bulma is my favorite because she is an awesome mother.
Tsurara Shirayuki
Tsurara Shirayuki
Tsurara Shirayuki - I picked her because she's a funny character who pretty much aids her daughter, Mizore Shirayuki, in nabbing Tsukune. Rosario Vampire is a harem anime, and poor Mizore has some tough rivals. Tsurara uses her resources wisely when she invites Tsukune and the school to relax at her Hot Springs resort. (If I remember correctly)
Akane Fujisaki
Akane Fujisaki
Akane Fujisaki - Akane is from the Sket Dance franchise. For her, there will be spoilers for those who did not watch Sket Dance up to episode 46 or so. Her role as a mother is really appreciated at that point in the anime. Sure, she seems like a laidback mother, but she is a hard worker to provide food for Bossun and Rumi who has no father in the household. Yes, she's a single mother.
Spoilers: I white this out. It turns out that Akane is not Bossun's biological mother, and she is Bossun's mother's best friend. Akane adopts Bossun as her son to honor her best friend who died shortly after a car crash. It's not about blood because a mother is a woman who takes care of someone like their offspring.

Have a Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Off the top of my head

  • Ren Seto- From My Bride is a Mermaid: I love the strong Wife/Mother character. Even her husband who is a Yakuza boss respects her.
  • Goei Sonsaku- Form Ikki Tousen- Hakufu may be powerful, but she knows not to cross the line with her mother GoeiXD
  • Kiriko Aoi- From Godannar. She designed the Bad-A** Dannar that her daughter and Son-in-law pilot.

Happy Mother's Day

Sanae Furukawa from Clannad - She's pretty typical mother but one that supports her daughter.

Meme Touwa from Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - While at first ignoring her daughter, she soon learns that Erio is family to her and the only thing that was left after Erio father was gone.

Haruko Kamio from Air - Not really a mother biological but she is one after understanding where she belongs in Misuzu life.

Junko Kaname from Madoka Magica - Hardworking women and helped Madoka understand what is the right thing to do.

Hm. I also have Junko Kaname and Goei Sonsaku as favorites. Junko's a good example of a responsible mother while Goei happens to be a very strong woman (no puns intended).

My thoughts as well. She was the real Yakuza boss as far as I'm concerned.

In fact, she kind of reminds me of my own mother, personality-wise. She is effin' scary when she gets mad. Sadly though, she doesn't have supernatural powers and/or a secret identity that of a mermaid. Or uh, erm...a yakuza mermaid, excuse me.

Or maybe she does, I don't know.

Well, the first one is pretty easy, Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon (or Neo Queen Serenity). While she gives birth to Chibiusa in the future, past or future, she is who she is and her younger, pre-motherhood self raises the child. It's an odd relationship, but I can't dismiss the love Usagi has for her daughter in both timelines.

Following, I must give props to Aki Hinata, mother of Natsumi and Fuyuki Hinata in the Keroro Gunsou/Sgt. Frog series. She's a hard working single mother raising two teenagers. Plus, she has two or three Keron alien invaders living under her roof. Somehow she keeps it all together and is regarded by the Keroro platoon as the strongest woman on Earth.

Next up is Sakura Bokuseiinmonzeninari of the 90's adventure series, Hyper Police. She's a fox spirit working as a bounty hunter. What's interesting about her is that she isn't a mother when the series starts. She's the number two character in the show and as it unfolds she meets someone, gets pregnant and has children. This type of thing happens so rarely in a show, she stuck in my mind. Oh, she's not the best mother either but she does love her children.

Finally there is Milia Fallyna Jenius of the Macross franchise. She began as a Zentradi ace pilot, but she fell in love with Earthing and gave birth to seven children. Even after having her first child she continued to fly combat and by Macross 7 she is the mayor of the space flotilla. Even there, she shows that she can still handle a Valkyrie in battle.

Honorable mentions include Kurenai Yuhi of Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden, Dr. Kiriko Aoi of Godannar and Hanae Ichinose of Maison Ikkoku. Oh and no list of anime mothers would be complete without a mention of Queen's Blade's gratuitously endowed Cattleya. Ay, caramba!

My favourite mothers in anime are:

Sanae Furukawa from Clannad

Nagisa Okazaki from Clannad

Kushina Uzumaki from Naruto

Trisha Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

Kyoko Honda from Fruits Basket

Cordelia Gallo from Gosick

The reason why I love all of those mothers are because they have that "motherly" air to them. They are all dedicated to their children, and have made some kind of sacrifice for their kids' well-being. That is why I like the mothers I have listed above :D

@takashichea:

Egypt's mother's day is on March 21st (if you want to add it to the international dates section :D )
