Montblanc Noland is the man who discovered the City of Gold, Shandoria. When the island couldn't be found again he went to his death as a liar and became an example to all in the North Blue as a liar, as seen in the Norland: King of Liars book.
A famous explorer who claimed to have found a city of gold, known as Shandoria, on the island of Jaya, Montblanc Norland went back to the king of the island he resided on in the North Blue with tales of wonder. When a return expedition to Jaya failed to reveil to the king and his men what Norland had originally said was on Jaya, Norland was put to death as a petty liar and used to make an example of what happens to those who dare "lie" to the king. After his execution, his family and all of his descendants carry the shame of being related to the infamous "Norland the Liar". The tale of his "lie" was even written into a children's book by the name of Norland: King of Liars.
Montblanc Norland was originally created by Eiichiro Oda for use in the One Piece manga franchise. Montblanc Norland first appears in One Piece: Volume 31 and in One Piece: Episode 187.
