|The Beautiful Monster|
Comparing the anime/manga Monster to any current, or created, Anime is difficult. The closest thing to it would be a cross between Deathnote and Paranoia Agent. The show itself is 74 episodes, which sets up a plot that one can delve into, get connected with the characters, and submerge into this threatening hell-hole known as Monster. This show has to be on my PERSONAL top 10 Anime List just because the voice acting (both in English and Japanese) is topped only by its suspense. Some personal critics claim the show is too long, but I would go to venture and say it isn't long enough. It isn't meant to feel long--it is meant to show you the struggle between Dr. Tenma and the serial killer, as well as show the adventure and struggle of a small side group of characters. In the end--and near the end--you will more than likely be gripping your seat hoping to find a conclusion you can appreciate, and the show does not upset. The show allows one to go back and re-watch and observe things the viewer hadn't observed the first time. The character growth between EVERY character is amazing. This anime is highly recommended to anyone who loves suspensful, crime dramas with a sense of reality.
