The father of Monkey D. Luffy and the son of Monkey D. Garp. He is the infamous Revolutionary leader and enemy of the world government.
Father to Luffy
Dragon is the father of the hero of One Piece, Monkey D Luffy. For reasons that have yet to be explained. Dragon left Luffy at a very young age with his father Garp (Luffy's grandfather) to raise. What Luffy's age was when he was abandoned is unknown, but it was young enough that Luffy has no memories of his father. Though neglectful as a father. There has been hints that Dragon does care for Luffy. From the secret base of the Revolutionary Army. Dragon will at times stare off into the distance toward the East Blue.
Since he left, Dragon has only come close to meeting with his son once. Back when Luffy was in Loguetown and fleeing from the Marine commander Smoker. Luffy had battled Smoker and was losing. He could of been captured on that day if Dragon hadn't surprisingly intervened. Though Dragon was only inches from his son, he decided not to introduce himself to Luffy. Luffy never even saw who rescued him.
Luffy would net even know he had a father until he was told by his grandfather, Garp, after his crews' victory over the World Government at Enies Lobby. Back in Water 7, Garp told him of his father and his name. Luffy seemed to be the only person present who didn't know the name.
