I've recently started watching my way through Gundam Wing a show I didn't watch much back when it was on Toonami but always enjoyed when I did catch it.

I don't want Wing to be the end of the line however and was wondering which series I should watch to help dive deeper into the Gundam Universe.

Most of the series I have seen bits of but never really watched all of, so any suggestion would help!

@finaldasa: Gundam Unicorn.

I actually know zilch about the Gundam universe, but dude! Gundam Unicorn! Surely judging by the name alone that has to be the correct choice, right?

If you don't mind older animation from as far back as 1979, I would recommend you give these titles a look:

Mobile Suit Gundam
Zeta Gundam
Gundam 0080
Gundam: Char's Counterattack
Victory Gundam
Turn A Gundam

Don't watch Seed and Seed Destiny. I'm not sure the if it's the most horrible but I certainly didn't enjoy.

Don't watch 00, the story in general is okay but the character development on that show is definitely absolutely horrible.

I would recommend Gundam X in addition to Dream's recommendation.

@Daniel_Newton: I would watch that only if I was assured one of the Gundams either looked like a unicorn or was all rainbow colors.

@Dream: Thanks! I've been trying to look for the original one to watch through but those look awesome too!

@buhssuht: Thanks!

@finaldasa: My personal favorites are War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team, but those are more spinoffs of the original Gundam. Still, they are very good and you should watch them.

Watching the original 79' Gundam is the standard essential As to my favorites, Turn A Gundam and 08th MS Team are very recommended as well, although Turn A is kind of an alternate universe that ties together all the other universes. Gundam Unicorn, which is still being released, is pretty awesome too and follows some characters of the original series, 17 years later.

These are my favorites as well.

Gundam 00 is pretty kick ass too. People hate SEED but I thought it was pretty good. Destiny is wonky but there are concepts and ideas that I love about it. Those three as well as Wing run way too long though imo. I don't know if it's always been this way, but the rule that any Gundam TV series must be 52 episodes needs to go the way of the Dodo.

@Daniel_Newton: MUST WATCH.

@DocHaus: 08th is the Gundam show that got me to really like everything Gundam. I really liked the side story style, only a handful of episodes but it was a well thought our and told story.

@sickVisionz: I just started 00, and I really liked the first episode. The animation is crisp and clean and after watching so much Wing it really looks good.

@finaldasa: There are a few core story beats that are pretty similar to Wing as well. It's not a retelling and it eventually does it's own thing, but I always thought of 00 as Wing with good looking fights.
