Yesterday, we teased you about the first seven minutes of GUNDAM UC being available to watch online and here we are today, serving the video to you on a platter forged out of busted space stations.
Behold…
Only seven minutes into the movie and we already get an exploding space station, a furious mecha space battle and surreal 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY- style multi-decade transition. Now, that’s how you start a feature! We see young master Banagher getting shot into space, but there’s no sign of the dashing Captain Full Frontal yet. Was that explosion a horrible accident caused by fuel leakage or extra powerful sun rays, or was there treachery involved? I’m sure the answers lie in the remaining 51 minutes.
Watching this highly-detailed, high-quality animation teaser has reminded me of my preference of 2D over 3D. There’s a lot more character and stylization inherent to a drawing that a model can hardly ever capture. So I’ll remind you that, if you do live in the San Francisco bay area, seize your rare chance to see this on the big screen at the Viz Cinema for its limited engagement running from the 19th to the 25.
Do you like what you see here, oh flash-forwarding Anime Vice community? Is it up to snuff?
