First of many adventurers to travel with Ash Ketchum on his Pokémon journey. Misty specializes in water type Pokémon.
Misty is the Cerulean City Gym Leader, she uses a Goldeen, Staryu, Starmie, Horsea, Psyduck, Corsola, Gyarados, Azurill, Luvdisc, Seel, and she raised a Togepi that soon evolved into a Togetic.
Misty is the leader of the Cerulean Gym, she left the Gym to her three sisters so she could travel with Ash Ketchum. She first came across Ash when she was out fishing and managed to hook Ash out of the water, thinking he was a big catch. After running into Misty, Ash borrowed her bike to catch a flock of wild Spearow's. The bike was returned burned and crisp by a Thundershock from Pikachu. She told him she wouldn't leave him alone until he bought her a new bike. A couple of episodes later Misty forgot why she started traveling with him in the first place.
Now Misty travels with Ash and Brock to all the Pokemon League. Misty is also terrified of Bug type Pokémon. Misty hates Ash but in episodes where girls flirt with Ash, she gets mad but when girls ask her if Ash and her are boyfriends & girlfriends, she blushes. Misty is very supportive to Ash sometimes but she really admire him at how much Ash and Pikachu are close together.
Misty can be somewhat of a know-it-all and has a very fierce (and at random times violent) temper, but she is the most balanced of the three main characters. Ash is the hot-headed, impulsive one while Brock is the cool-headed most responsible one. Misty usually shows traits of both and keeps both of them grounded. Whenever Brock starts to drool over a girl too much, Misty quickly brings him back to reality by dragging him away by the ear. When Ash feels invincible, she makes a usually brutal remark that gets him focused and hungry again. While Misty's temper sometimes shows little respect for others' self-esteem, she can be maternal and sensitive at times. She is also a bit of a tomboy, but still loves girly things like tanning or cute trinkets and dolls.
Although Ash and Misty start off not liking each other, they little by little become great friends, each willing to stick up for the other. Misty generally hates living in her three sisters shadows, all of whom are considered more beautiful and talented than herself, leading to the three sisters calling Misty the "runt" of the family. When Misty helps them out by performing in a water show, she gains much more respect from them and Misty no longer has to fight so fiercely for approval.
