Miranda became an exorcist after Allen Walker, and Lenalee Lee helped her stop the repeat of time in her town.
As a child Miranda was considered a strange child and she was mocked by other children. She held over 100 jobs by the time Allen and Lenalee recruited her and was fired from them all due to her incompetence.
Miranda Lotto is a protagonist created by Hoshino Katsura for the series D. Gray Man. Hoshino originally did not intend to make Miranda one of the exorcists, but changed her mind.
Miranda developed her exorcist powers since her introduction and is quite a useful member of the team despite her own self disapproval. She also developed a less conservative style as before her immense low esteem of herself caused her to be very conservative, wearing old full body dresses, wearing her hair up in a simple bun and looking much older than she actually was.
Miranda is a young woman of moderate height and a lean build. She has shoulder length black hair and black eyes with dark circles around them. Miranda formerly wore an ankle length dress but since being taken to the European Branch of the Black Order, she changed to a more stylish attire. When she is on missions, she wears a tight fitting exorcist uniform.
Her face itself seems to change as well. She initially had no eye brows but later she is shown to have them, and she no has indentations on her face like before. Now it is a more full face, perhaps because she is healthier now.
Miranda has low self esteem and tends to be a people pleasure to gain their acknowledgement. She tends to feel useless and was previously fired from over 100 jobs that she held, despite only being 26 years old. But she is a very kind person. She often needs approval or direction for her to perform adequately.

Allen and Lenalee were sent on their first mission together to investigate the anomaly nick named the "Rewinding Time". It was reported that a certain village had been stuck on the same date, October 13 for 30 days in a row. Once they arrived, they were quick to bump into Miranda, who was being choked by an Akuma. She is immediately saved by Allen, who dispatched the Akuma, but Miranda ran home right after, not giving the duo time to speak with her. After leaving her home again, Miranda reflected at how she was the only one in town who knew that every day was repeating itself. She then noticed Allen and Lenalee and followed them to a cafe, where she attempted to listen to their conversation. She was spotted by Allen and she tried to run away again, but Allen catches her by her dress and told her that he only wanted to explain things to her.
Shortly after however, they are attacked by a group of Akuma. Lenalee carries Miranda away while Allen dealt with the hoard. Once back at her apartment, Allen follows shortly after. When Miranda's Grandfather Clock struck midnight, it absorbed all the time of that day into itself, beginning a new cycle. Allen and Lenalee decide to stay with Miranda for a time. Allen even helps her with her new job at a theater, however, her performance there was also bad. Miranda whined to herself about how unfortunate it was that her clock was innocence and the cause of the time loop. Unfortunately for her, she was overheard by Road Kamelot, one of the Noah family. Once Allen and Lenalee were away, Road kidnapped Miranda and took her grandfather clock as well, leaving behind a cruel message written in Miranda's blood.
Miranda is next seen in Road Kamelot's dimension, with her hands nailed to her grandfather clock. Terrified, Miranda pleads with Road, but is only told that she will be free when she is dead. In the mean time, Allen and Lenalee were battling Akuma but were eventually knocked out and also captured by Road. Allen is also nailed to a wall beside Miranda and is subsequently tortured by her, even ripping out one of his eyes. She also tormented Lenalee, having stripped and re-dressed her while Allen was unconscious, and she was seemingly awake but unable to move.
At this point, Road was seemingly done with her sadistic pleasure and moved to kill Miranda, but Allen, despite being badly mutilated by Road, ripped out of his restraints and shielded Miranda. When an Akuma prepares to attack Allen, this time Miranda, finding her courage at last, stepped between them. She did not have confidence that she could do anything but tried nonetheless. At this, her innocence, altered itself into a giant clock above them and began emitting a golden light. Allen's wounds began to disappear and it was revealed to be Miranda subconsciously turning back time and hence, Allen's wounds were disappearing.
Now healed, Allen activated his innocence Cross, and grabbed Lenalee, pulling her into the light. Once Lenalee was healed at rapid speed, the duo then face Road and her Akuma. The fight was not an easy one but they drove Road away. The dimension begins to crumble away. Allen then takes notice of Miranda's great effort at maintaining her new innocence power to keep them from having their injuries return. Despite refusing initially, Allen and Lenalee tell Miranda to release her innocence as she could not maintain it forever and they reassured her that they would be fine. Miranda reluctantly does so and they collapse from their injuries, now returned. Miranda rushes to find a doctor for them.
When Allen awoke, he was beside Komui Lee, who had a message from Miranda, stating that she left to train in order to become an exorcist like him.
Some time after the events of the Rewinding Town arc, Miranda is sent on her first mission to accompany Allen and the others on their quest to locate General Cross Marian. By the time Miranda arrives, Allen was already defeated and missing and presumed dead at that point. When Miranda arrives, she find's Anita's ship damaged, the same ship that Lenalee and the others were using to get to Edo and they were unable to continue due to the state of the ship. Miranda fixed that problem by using her new powers and turned time back on itself and thus put the ship in it's state before it had been wrecked, shocking everyone present. She and the others are then given new exorcist uniforms to wear, sent by Komui Lee's branch. Miranda was asked if she could maintain the state of the ship all the way to Edo as it required her continued focus for it to stay in it's repaired state. Miranda stated that she had learned to go for weeks at a time with no sleep given her past depressing experiences.
A few days later, still at sea, their ship is attacked by Akuma. This strained Miranda greatly as more damage meant more strain for her to maintain the ship's repaired state. She was attacked by numerous Akuma but the ship's crew shielded her with their bodies, distressing Miranda as she knew their injuries were likely to be fatal once she released her innocence invocation.
The situation only got worse when a level 3 Akuma by the name of Eshi arrived at attacked the ship. He was so powerful that he was able to bypass her invocation and caused sustained damage to the ship. Krory and Lavi were quick to take Eshi on, but they ultimately failed to take him down. But then Lenalee stepped in, having an advantage given that she could fly like the Akuma could. Lenalee eventually won the brutal encounted by using the Falling Technique, but it took such a toll on her that she passed out and fell into the ocean. However, Lavi was able to recover Lenalee.
After a short while, Lenalee and the crew realized that despite Miranda's claims to the contrary, she would not be able to uphold her invocation for much longer. The crew decided that they should be left behind. Since most of them would die anyway, it was counterproductive for Miranda to maintain their lives for only a few days longer. Miranda wept but there was nothing she could do. Anita the ship's owner and the rest of the crew stayed on board but provided Miranda's group with a smaller long boat they had. Once Miranda and the other's boarded the boat, Miranda reached her limit and the invocation was released. She could only watch as Anita and her crew perished and the ship sank.
The group finally arrived at Edo but they are quickly found and confronted by the Earl of Millennium, Tyki and an army of Akuma. The Exorcists make a stand against the Earl and his minions and while Miranda helped by keeping their injuries from surfacing until after the battle, the rest all battled against the army. They managed to defeat most of the Akuma present, but an annoyed Earl decided to abruptly level the entire city, at which Miranda strained herself to try and maintain her invocation. This attack separated the team from each other including the helpless Lenalee who was still unable to fight since her battle with Eshi. The Earl took the opportunity to kill Lenalee, but right as he was about to do so, none other than Allen Walker appeared via a Noah's Arc Dimensional Door and he blocked the Earl and battled him directly. With Allen being there, live and well and stronger than before, the Earl decided to retreat and Allen has a happy reunion with his comrades.
Miranda's Time Record is an equip type innocence power. It takes the form of a black disc with green innocence coursing through in 2 circular designs on it.
This ability allows Miranda to revert anything back to it's original state as long as she maintains the invocation. She has used it to prevent injuries from her allies from surfacing and repairing damaged ships. Given Miranda's great stamina, she can maintain this technique for several days at a time. However it does not last forever. Once Miranda releases the invocation or runs out of stamina, all damage sustained prior or during the invocation will occur. People that would be dead already will immediately die, and damaged objects or wounds received that were negated will come back. When this ability is in action, it forms a giant clock face. If the clock is struck, Miranda feels terrible pain. The range of this ability is limited, nevertheless, Miranda was able to maintain a ship and all it's crew for days on end.
A superior version of Time Recovery. With a limited range, Miranda can actually stop time. Any attacks or actions taken from the outside have no effect and unlike Time Recovery, even when Miranda releases her invocation, the events still do not occur as time was frozen. However, the range of this ability appears smaller than Time Recovery and Miranda can only maintain this technique for a moment in stark contrast to the days that she can maintain Time Recovery.
Seemingly like a combination of the two above techniques. Miranda is able to rewind time then stop time in a limited area.
