Mio Sakamoto is one the 501st Joint Fighter Wing from the Fuso Forces. The second ranking commander with the magical ability to see great distances and spot the Neuroi cores.
Mio was the very first member of the Strike Witches, when the war with the Neroi broke out, she was the first piliot of the strike wing. The Strike Wing was designed by Yoshika Miyafuji's father. She is from the same place as Yoshika (Fuso), and decides to pay her a visit. She stumbles upon Miyafuji in trouble and quickly runs to help her. When Miyafuji comes to she asks her to be a member of the Strike Witches. At first Miyafuji is reluctant, however she receives a letter from her dead father; which is adressed from Brittania, and decides to take Sakamoto up on her offer. Mio, happens to be a major in rank, but is in charge of disciplining the strike witches. As she progresses (in Age) her powers began to weaken resulting in her not being able to construct a fully functional shield. She is a person with a sense of humor, a hearty laugh and has a passion for what she does.
