In one episode, it turns out that Minth used to be a miner who mined books with his friends and then sold them on the Black Market. It's not quite mentioned what caused him to become an Armed Librarian, but it might have had something to do with a pulp fiction book that he and his friends uncovered one day. A special book that lets people look into the mind of an insane person like a serial killer, and acts as a brain narcotic.
During one mission to find more of these pulp fiction books, Minth went back to his hometown to find that his friend was running a seafood restaurant with very few customers. After doing some investigative work, Minth discovered that his friend was selling a piece of a tainted book around town, causing some of the residents to go crazy while making himself money.
Minth is not afraid to fight, but his power of sensing people's souls has given him a measure of empathy when deciding whether or not someone is worth fighting.
