Originally a star of her own manga, Codename: Sailor V, in which Mina Aino is a volleyball player looking for love in all the wrong places, Minako becomes one of the Sailor Senshi, now known as Sailor Venus. She then fights for justice and love in the name of Venus.
As a young girl, it is known of how Mina was exactly brought up. We know from various episodes in the anime that she played volleyball and was very good at it, and that she was highly athletic. We also know that she wasn't the dumbest person around, but she wasn't the smartest either, probably on the average side. However, what she did bring to the scouts that wasn't there before was her cleverness and tactical mind. In a sticky situation in a battle, Mina can usually find a solution to it, while being sly from the enemy.
Sailor Venus is the very last scout to be introduced in the Anime, and she is the happy up-beat person in the group. She has much passion and love inside of her, and is one of the scouts that Sailor Moon is closest to. She started out as Sailor V, a personal codename where she fought against evil by herself, and her companion Artemis. Even though she was called Sailor V, she still had the same powerset as when she was called Sailor Venus.
Her back story as Sailor V was was more explored in the Codename: Sailor V.
Mina was always the "life" of the Sailor Scouts. This was something that was lacking in the squad before Mina showed up, and the squad was more "complete" with Mina's attitude. It's also interesting to note that for awhile, the squad thought that Sailor Venus was actually the Moon Princess, though it turned out to be Serena. Although, they both have blonde hair, which may have lead to the misconception.
Naoko Takeuchi created the Sailor Moon franchise, and also created Sailor Venus, as well as the other Sailor Scouts. Mina's first anime appearence was in Season 1 , Episode 33. Her first Manga appearence was in Chapter 15, Volume 3. Mina was the last Sailor Scout to be introduced in the anime series. Her most notable voice actor is Rica Fukami.
Just like all the Sailor Scouts, Mina grows a lot throughout her appearences, not only in physical ways but also emotionally and mentally as well. Firstly, she comes into the Sailor team a little too proud and has quite a large ego, probably due to her going solo for a long time. However, as she starts working with the other Scouts, she learns the ways of team work, and becomes less "cocky" about her skills. In fact, as she grows more and her relationships with the girls grow, she becomes one of the most devoted to the team out of all its memebers.
Mina also shares a decent amount of relationships just lke all the other scouts, she was more focused on in this area (relationships) because she is infact the Scout of Love. And out of all the scouts, her relationships that started at the beginning of the series, shows the most growth. It can also be assumed that she was to go solo for a reason, so that all her changes, relationships and not, are seen more drastically from the beginning than the rest of her Scout teammates.
As the series plays out, Mina becomes more daring than she ever was, and yet she stays the same, always brave. Even though she was brave on her own as Sailor V, she pushes her bravery further and to the limits and beyond with her new companions, she sticks out in the Scouts and doesn't really bond with anyone in particular, even though she would risk her life for any one of them any day. She was always used to being by herself and doing things for herself, and she had to learn to adjust to being a team player, something that took nearly an entire season to due.
The first arc in the Sailor Moon anime series, this is where Mina is first introduced, along with the other scouts. The main antagonist is Queen Beryl, one of the leaders of the Negaverse ( Queen Metalia), and evil universe with one goal in mind, destroying the scouts and gaining power. Throughout the entire arc, Queen Beryl sends different "agents" such as Zoisite, Nephrite, and Kunzite. The goal of these generals of Queen Beryl is to capture gems from different human beings across Japan, together they form the Imperium Crystal. In the final attempt of getting all the crystal by either side, Beryl is boosted in power by Queen Metalia (Negaverse). She is now known as Super Beryl, with much more immense power. However, using the Crescent Moon Wand, Sailor Moon becomes Princess Serenity, and destroys Beryl and Queen Metalia(Negaverse) for good.
Mina primarily seen throughout the series is seen with the other scouts helping out Sailor Moon fight the Negaverse. She actually saves the scouts from doom in her first appearence, using her Crescent Beam Attack to blast Kunzite, tearing down his dark electric field that was disabling the other scouts from fighting back.
In this Arc, the Sailor Scouts have no memory of there heroic jobs and powers, and all is at peace. However, when evil starts up again, Luna returns Serena's memories, and eventually the other scouts get their memory returned as well. Also, Rini is introduced in this Arc, being sent from the future, a daughter of Serena and Darrien.
In Episode 52, or the sixth episode of this arc, an episode was dedicated to Mina primarily, when she befriends a kindergarden student and goes on a field trip with the class, she is attacked by a cardian named Gigaros. He was a very powerful cardian, and the usual Crescent Beam wasn't enough, so Sailor Venus used a stronger version of the attack known as, Crescent Beam Shower. It massively weakened by the powerful attack, giving Sailor Moon an easy time to bind and destroy the creature.
Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are involved a lot in this arc, often teaming up with the other Scouts to fight Damion. Rini is sent back to Crystal Tokyo to further her training, and everyone was sad to see her go. Sailor Pluto also makes her first appearence, re-awakening Sailor Neptune and Uranus, bringing the three Outer Senshi all together again.
Sailor Venus helps out Sailor Moon throughout all the battles and adventures throughout this arc, though doesn't do anything that is significant enough to be stated here.
This is Sailor Venus's primary attack, and also the first shown in the anime series. She starts this attack off by raises her index finger in the air, where two yellow crescent moons meet at her finger tip. She then lowers her right finger, laying her left hand over her upper arm and shouts, "Venus Crescent Beam !" Then a bright yellow blast of light energy will errupt from her finger, and the width of the blast varies in the task she has and the amount of energy she puts into it.
A long chain, that when she summons it, she screams "Venus !" and a wind vortex whirls around her, raising her hair, then she says "Love Chain Encircle !" and a gold chain, made out of hearts linked together, swirls from her in a spiral to either wrap the opponent up, or use is as a whip and slash and hit the foe. This particular attack was seen more frequently in the earlier seasons of the anime.
First appearing in Episode 154, this is one of Mina's most powerful attacks throughout the series. She first holds out her hand, and the symbol for Venus appears, then disappeared in a flood of bright gold stars. She kisses her hand, and a heart appears, then she throws her hand around her body creating many hearts, and they all combine to form a gold ball of energy, which she throws at the enemy. While this is going on the screams, " Venus Love N' Beauty Shock ! "
A popular attack used more frequently by Sailor V, Mina is unique in that she is the only Scout that has named physical attacks, this one being most popular. It was a powerful front kick used by Sailor Venus, and showed her elite athletic and fighting skills. This was usually used as a first resort, using her magical power later if need be.
Venus Power: First transformation for Sailor Venus, she uses the Transformation Pen for this technique, and it becomes one of her shortest. It can be assumed that she used the same technique to change into Sailor V, considering Artemis was still with her. A swirl of gold stars spins around Mina then hits the ground and explodes upwards in a massive wave. Afterword, Mina is already in her Sailor Venus costume and ready to fight ! In this act, she screams, "Venus Power !"
The sign for Sailor Venus is unique to that of the sign to the planetary Venus. Instead of the circle for the sign, it is heart shaped, something that was edited to make it unique for all the Scouts in that way. This sign stays with Sailor Venus throughout he manga/anime and is also a symbol used by her in her planetary attacks with the other scouts. It can be assumed that she used the same sybmol to call upon her powers while she was Sailor V.
Sailor Venus's common color theme was orange throughout the entire manga/anime, with heavy use of yellow/gold as a major support. Some even consider it to be more of a dark yellow, but it has been officially stated as orange. Her high heels, skirt, and parts of her gloves are all orange of the same shade. While her bow at her chest is a deep royal blue, and her hair a striking gold. Her skin color is very similar to the other scouts, however it appears sometimes that Mina and Ami's skin color could be a few shades if any lighter.
