A film directed by Satoshi Kon, featuring as its heroine a former A-list actress who has secluded herself for over 30 years.
A woman who was a famous actress, Chiyoko Fujiwara, gets interviewed by two men, Genya Tachibana and his colleague, to make a documentary. They interview her about her past, from her teenage schoolgirl years to a middle-aged superstar year. Going through the periods: World War 2 and the Sengoku period.
She chases after the one she loves, not knowing she is chasing a shadow.
