The Midnight Channel is a realm of Shadows that was created by the goddess Izanami with the purpose of seeing what was within the dark desires of humans. She granted the power to travel through to this world for that purpose.

The Midnight Channel itself is made up of different areas that represent those that are placed in there from Earth. Each area is different since those that enter the Midnight Channel have their own problems and desires in their hearts. When a person enters the Midnight Channel, they will appear on a turned off television at midnight on a rainy day, giving whoever sees it a glimpse at what a persons heart truly wants.

The following locations are areas inside the Midnight Channel created by those that have fallen into the television. Each has their own unique qualities and increasingly dangerous Shadows.

Major Events

The Midnight Channel was created by Izanami since she wanted to grant humans their deepest wishes in life. She plan was to create the bridge between Earth and the world of Shadows so that she could turn humans into Shadows and they could live on instinct as opposed to living in a world with rules, thus the human race would no longer suffer. However, only certain individuals who have been literally touched by Izanami may enter the Midnight Channel, people such as Taro Namatame, Tohru Adachi, and Souji Seta.

However, things begin to escalate when Adachi throws both Mayumi Yamano and Saki Konishi into the Midnight Channel since both rejected him and he wanted to have some fun by watching them suffer in the Midnight Channel. Since both came across their Shadows and rejected them, they were killed by their Shadows and ended up back in the real world murdered. Namatame finds out about this and tries to report it to the police, but Adachi answers his calls and convinces him to start kidnapping people that appear on television. He is able to avert blame from himself until the Investigation Team forms and begins to discover the truth behind the area.
