The S-Class Exam resumes with several teams battling their way through to the next round while behind the scenes, Pantherlily and Carla raise suspicion of Mest's real identity, questioning whether he is truly a member of Fairy Tail. To add more problems to the mix, Evergreen, Elfman and Natsu encounter a mysterious boy who possesses deathly (and seemingly uncontrollable) magic that can take the life of any living thing. Just who is this dangerous wizard and what is he doing on Tenrou Island?

Plot Summary

You are NOT helping this weirdo!

Carla and Pantherlily are seen flying towards Tenrou Island with the former stating that they are going there to watch the exam but eventually admits that is due to her concern for Wendy. She explains that one week ago Mest approached Wendy and introduced himself as Mystogan's disciple, who asked for her aid by becoming his partner. However despite Carla's strong disapproval, Wendy agreed to help him, believing that she was somehow returning Mystogan's kindness. Carla tells Pantherlily that Mest is not the problem but the entire exam, adding that its giving her a bad feeling. But Pantherlily remarks that Mest is a suspicious character, telling Carla that his story of being Mystogan's disciple just doesn't sit well with him.

Meanwhile, the teams battle it out to advance to the next stage, with the first being Mest and Wendy versus Loke and Gray. Although Mest manages to block and dodge several of Loke's and Gray's attacks with his extraordinary speed, their teamwork proved too much for him as he gets knocked out by the duo. With Wendy the last person to defeat, Loke and Gray decide to torment her by eating the very food she despises: pickled plums. Elsewhere on the island, Elfman and Evergreen engage in a battle against Mirajane who overwhelms the couple with her immense strength and power. As she was about to deliver the finishing blow, Evergreen steps up and says that she wants to tell her something important.

Back to Wendy and Mest, the latter finally wakes up but becomes disappointed upon learning that he had lost the fight against Loke and Gray. As Wendy informs him what had happened after he had fallen unconscious, she begins to cry, sadly proclaiming that she had been useless despite her valiant efforts. In the meantime, Loke and Gray celebrate their victory and note their surprise at how weak Mest was considering that he had almost won the previous year. As they try to recall more information about him, their memories of him become hazy as they seemingly can't remember who his partner was in the last exam.

Upon reaching the meeting spot for the winning teams, Makarov announces the results of the first part of the test, informing them that Juvia and Lisanna were defeated by Erza. Seconds later, a battered Evergreen and Elfman show up who refuse to disclose what 'secret technique' they used to defeat Mirajane. With everyone present, Makarov explains the second part of the exam whereby every team must find the location of Mavis' grave within six hours. Meanwhile, Mest tries to cheer up Wendy by suggesting they explore the island to uncover one of Fairy Tail's biggest secret, to which she agrees in delight. At the same time, Pantherlily and Carla walk along the island's shores, with the former expressing more doubts about Mest being Mystogan's disciple and possibly a member of Fairy Tail.

At the examiner's camp site, Mirajane reveals to Erza, Lisanna and Juvia how Evergreen and Elfman defeated her, saying that they told her they were getting married in order to catch her off guard and get an opening. After the excitement of the discussion, Erza and Juvia head out to search for Mest and Wendy who haven't yet arrived.

Back to the S-Class exams, every team is experiencing some difficulties finding Mavis' grave as they are being chased by some of the island's ridiculously powerful creatures. With no clues about its whereabouts, Happy and Natsu decide to fly to the top of Tenrou Island. Elsewhere Evergreen and Elfman fall off course and bump into a mysterious boy who looks at them confused. After learning that the island is maintained by a guild, he decides to leave them be however he suddenly and involuntarily unleashes a powerful wave of dark magic that kills every living thing within the vicinity. To Evergreen and Elfman's luck, Natsu intervenes and saves the two. Upon seeing Natsu, the mysterious boy begins to shed tears but Natsu doesn't know who he is.
