Mercutio is an ambitious Montague noble, who aspires to reach the position of Lord Montague.
Origin
Mercutio was a prominent noble under Lord Montague, as was his father, Titus. He had aspirations to rise above his station and become Lord Montague's heir and successor. Unfortunately, his fathers drunken and slovenly behavior made it difficult for him to rise above his station, until the events of the series. Creation
Mercutio was created by Studio Gonzo for the anime Romeo x Juliet, more specifically by the writer Reiko Yoshida. He was portrayed in the anime by Tetsuya Kakihara in Japanese, and by Christopher Bevins in English. Major Story Arcs
Over the first half of Romeo x Juliet, Mercutio operated as a spy and agent for Lord Montague, giving him information on the whereabouts and activities of his son, Romeo. Later on in the story, Lord Montague, exasperated with his son, named Mercutio his heir. Unfortunately, this also led Lord Montague to kill his father, Titus. His inability and unwillingness to defend his father eventually resulted in his descent into madness and later murder of Lord Montague, after which he left for parts unknown.
