Founder of Studio Madhouse.

In 1959, an 18-year-old Masao Maruyama (丸山正雄) began working for Mushi Productions, Osamu Tezuka's studio. During his time at Mushi he met a number of other animators with whom he founded Studio Madhouse, where he still works. Maruyama has become well-known in America in part due to his frequent attendence at anime conventions in North Amercia.
