Maria Holic is the first season of the Maria Holic anime, and based upon the original manga by Minari Endo. Kanako is a lesbian-girl who goes to an all girl's school and is tormented by a sadistic, cross-dressing boy named Mariya.

The Maria Holic is  an anime series based upon the manga series Maria Holic, created by the writer and artist Minari Endoh . The series was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo , music by Tatsuya Nishiwaki. It's parody comedy series of various yuri, cross dressing romance series set in private Catholic School. It is produced by the SHAFT  and has aired on the networks of Chiba TV, AT-X, Sun TV, Tokyo MX, TV Kanagawa, TV Osaka in Japan. The first episode originally aired on January 4, 2009 and it lasted for twelve episodes. The final of which aired on. March 22.2009.
 
The license for the series in North America was acquired by Sentai Filmworks and would release the complete collection DVD through Section 23. The disc were published without an English dubbed cast and only provided with the original Japanese dialog with subtitles.The DVD was released on February 23, 2010.
 
In October 2010, the green light was given on the production of the second season for Maria Holic based upon the further story of the manga. The series is called Maria Holic: Alive. It would begin airing as part of the Spring 2011 season, and the first episode was on April 7. 2011.
 

Plot

Kanako Miyamae, a second-year student, has taken her first step to finding her one true love as she is accepted to the prestigious all-girl Catholic school, Ame no Kisaki. She wanted to come here, because of her extreme phobia of men and this is where he own parents met. She hopes to fine her dream yuri partner among the ladies of Ame no Kisaki. Even on her first first day, Kanako meets a first-year student of great beauty named Mariya Shidou. She has everything Kanako has always wanted in a woman.......with one deal breaker. Mariya may be beautiful, but a beautiful, sadistic boy who's a cross-dresser. She may know his secret, but Mariya discovers why Kanako came to an all-girls school to find true love.
