A senior Flame Haze known as the Inquisitor of Condolence.
She is contracted to Jūrin no Sōga Marchosias. She holds the title Chōshi no Yomite (Interpreter of Condolence) and she’s an excellent spell-caster. She likes liquor and battle. She has a vengeance to an unknown silver Tomogara (who is somehow linked to the Reiji Maigo). Even before she became a flame haze, she only lives for vengeance.
She was once a daughter of an England land lord in a medieval time. At that time, she was always relied by others, and that became her motivation to live (in fact, she's a very good person). But after many helps she gave, her allies betrayed her, even got her father killed. She's then brought to a brothel. She's know sick of being relied by others, and started to built a deep vengeance towards the people that made her suffer. She swore to kill all the people that made her suffer, but the people were killed by the silver tomogara. Everything was taken from her. She’s empty, and she will always kill, destroy, and laugh at others (in exchange for her vengeance being taken by the silver). In the middle of her desperation, Marchosias came and found her, made a contract with her, and turned her to a flame haze. She then chases the silver.
Takahashi took her name from the British children's dong (Nursery Rhymes) "See Saw Margery Daw." Margery is the nickname of a poor rural women in 19th century. Daw means a lazy person. Margery is also derived from Marjorie, Marjorie means Margaret in English, from a Greek word means "pearl". Margery Daw is later chanting "See Saw Margery Daw" rhymes, not to cast a spell, but it's a statement of her desperation. In the anime, she's voiced by Hitomi Nabatame in Japanese, and Janyse Jaud in English.
She’s referred as a beautiful and tall European woman with a brown hair (brown in the light novel, blonde hair in the anime). She wears a purple suit, a choker, and a pair of high heels. She wears glasses, for a decoration only (her eyes are still perfect). She also ties her hair. She uses the book Grimoire, which is her contractor’s jinki.
Margery is a mature and a lazy flame haze with a drinking habit; she likes to drink liquor until she’s drunk. She’s also a berserker that will eliminate everything and anyone on her way, due to her phrase “destroy, kill, and laugh at others”. Like other flame hazes that have lived very long, she doesn’t care about the environment surrounding, or others perception towards her. She just cares about battles and the silver. When she comes to a certain location, she picks a guidance, usually a young man with a good looking face. She said because it’s much easier for her to control her guidance if they’re young, but Marcho said that she just want to flirt.
She and Marcho and referred be Alastor as a "Battle Freak".
Later, in the final season episode 4, she receives a fact about the silver: The silver is actually herself, just an embodiment of her strong feeling of anger and hatred. That fact makes her into the state of chaos, making her lose her contract with Marcho.
She first appears in the 4th episode, standing on a building. She accidentally came to Misaki City when chasing Rammie. Feeling frustrated because she couldn't find him, she decided to use a spell that lead her to a battle with Shana. She then met Eita and Keisaku and randomly chose them as her guider, and live at Keisaku's house during her stay.
There's 2 episode about her meeting with Sydonay at New York and some flashback about the silver. In the 9th episode, she declares that she will kill the silver no matter what, even that means that she has to sacrifice something that's really precious.
Pheles then comes to the city, and Margery knows that Yuji's flame is silver. She goes insane, left Ogata Matake hurt (inside the Fuzetsu), which lead to the avoidance of Eita Tanaka.
Margery knows the truth behind the silver and almost fell apart. Keisaku then kisses her, giving her a new meaning to life forward. They both confess to each other.
Later, when Xanadu's finished, Margery decides to stay at the Earth for the sake of Keisaku. When Shana & Yuji fight for the last time, she faces Sydonay, and successfully kills him.
