The main character from the Blade of the Immortal series. Cursed with near-immortality by the kessen-chu that flow in his blood, Manji seeks to slay 1,000 evil men to atone for his crimes and end his immortality.
Manji once was a samurai, but when he learned that the lord he served was corrupt, he slew him. A skilled swordsman, he killed many men seeking him to bring him to justice, earning the nickname "Hundred Man Murderer." The 100th man he killed was his brother-in-law, and the sight of seeing her brother killing her husband sent Manji's sister into shock. Some time afterward he encounterd a withered old nun claiming to be over 800 years old, who bestowed upon Manji the kessen-chu (bloodworms) which live in the bloodstream and slow aging to a crawl, allowing wounds to close up supernaturally quickly, and even re-attach severed limbs.
Now nigh-unkillable (though severing his head will still work) Manji travels in an attempt to kill 1,000 evil men to make up for the 100 good men he killed previously, and in return the nun will remove the kessen-chu and end his immortality.
