Makoto Shishio

Origin

A ruthless and cold-blooded sociopath, Makoto Shishio was the leader of the Juppongatana who sought to overthrow the Meiji government and create a Japan where the weak would exist for the benefit of the strong. Being a former assassin for the Meiji government, officials demanded his death out of fear that he would overthrow them. Shishio survived the attempt on his life, though his body was left heavily disfigured from being set ablaze. A master swordsman and tactician, Shishio is able to study his opponent's techniques and exploit their flaws in battle. His sword, the Mugenjin, is soaked in the bodily oils of all the victims Shishio killed in battle as he is able to use the oils as ignition to set his sword ablaze and use it to both cut and burn his enemies.

Creation

Makoto's first appearence is in Rurouni Kenshin # 56, from the Rurouni Kenshin series. Nobuhiro Watsuki is credited with the creation of this characer, and he has been voiced by Masanori Ikeda (Japanese) and Steven Blum (English).    

Power & Abilities

Weapon

His sword, the Mugenjin, is soaked in the bodily oils of all the victims Shishio killed in battle as he is able to use the oils as ignition to set his sword ablaze and use it to both cut and burn his enemies. Makoto's weapon is a strong and sturdy sword, made by a top tier sword creator Arai Shakku. It is a highly sharp sword, due to its serrated edges which make it easy to tear through flesh.

Physical Attributes

Makoto has massive strength, stamina, and durability is so great, he is often compared to Kenshin. He has demonstrated his great physical stats several times throughout his appearences.
