Makarov Dreyar News

Makarov Dreyar is a anime/manga character in the Fairy Tail franchise
| |
Okay the fact that i expected this does not make it any less annoying that it happened. The fact that Hiro limited it to one chapter i can be grateful for, sort of. Once more i was somewhat disappointed with this week’s fairy tail chapter. It wasn’t bad but i am just waiting for the day i can finally get excited about or after reading a fairy tail chapter again.

THE PLOT:>
The first chapter, 338, revolved around the party celebrating the end of the tournament. Apparently because of the gate’s destruction, a number of events were undone and most people lost their memories with regards to the dragon attack.
The king holds a feast, every mage at the tournament attends, somewhat changed and ready to reconcile over their past wrong doings and mistakes. Natsu makes a fool of himself by stealing the king’s crown.
IN chapter 339, we learn that Daronbolt wiped the magical council’s memories. Apparently the idea that the royal family was involved with the eclipse gate and thus zeref’s dark magic was the sort of scandal that would sink the people’s faith in the monarchy.
So Daronbolt acted to prevent this insight from coming to light. He willingly allows Meredy and Jellal, one of the few other people that still remembers the dragon incident to leave.
It seems cobra handed himself back to the authorities to serve his sentence once the battle ended. He apparently heard something related to the ’six mages’ and he doesn’t want Daronbolt to erase his memories.
The baram alliance, the conglomerate of dark guilds amongst which included Zero’s Oracion Seis and Hades’ Grimoire heart is apparently on the move, with the only remaining dark guild with any power worth worrying about, tartaros, apparently operating in the background.
Daronbolt leaves with a warning of things to come. Jellal and Gray learn of Ultear’s death. Gray makes a comment about how both mother, Ur, and daughter, Ultear, died the same way, sacrificing their lives to perform magic to save others. They weep for her.
Not long after fairy tail’s return to their home, they are celebrated and awarded a new guild head quarters. Elsewhere Zeref finally makes an appearance, or rather Marvis appears to him. She speaks of how he has been seeking for a place to die and asks whether he had found it. Zeref speaks of the thinking he has done in seven years, the failings of man he has witnessed and how he has ultimately decided to annihilate everything so that all can start to grow afresh.
Marvis announces fairy tail’s will to stop him.

MY REVIEW:>
I will admit, i wasn’t happy to spend a chapter watching fairy tail and gang party. But after finishing all three chapters, i realized that despite my not wanting to witness six entire chapters of no plot worthy material, there is some logic to Hiro’s pacing. It’s not like we can logically jump from one major arc straight to another. It makes sense that their is some down time, that we get to see fairy tail doing what it does best, make fools of themselves in egregious dalliance.
Admittedly despite my distaste of what i saw as a waste of 20 pages, i was reminded of what fairy tail was largely about and why i choose to read it. Despite the fact that it was largely funny thought, i wasn’t particularly convinced that these mages, who has so vehemently attacked each other during the tournament, not merely as tools of their guilds, but through personal feelings and grudges, could so easily mingle and laugh with each other, especially Minerva and Erza.
I wasn’t too happy about that particular hole in the plot. What happened in the tournament wasn’t just about winning and attaining the price, some of these mages got down and dirty with each other, fueling grudges that Hiro cannot tell me have so easily vanished. I think Hiro could have chosen to use the ball to squeeze some more drama out of the story. But he didn’t, and while none of these characters were villains, i am not so sure i like how everyone in fairy tail, no matter how vile, eventually transforms into a thriving ball of sunshine.
I am happy Hiro didn’t linger on these events, at least beyond a chapter. I am happy that Ultear’s sacrifice was recognized. I actually expected everyone to just move on and forget about ultear, or maybe she would return to life after the gate’s destruction; but it seems like she stayed down and Gray took note, especially of the fact that Ultear took the route of her mother, saving him by giving her life. I will admit that what Hiro chose to do with her character made for much sadder material than if she had just died.
Finally we get to see zeref after what seems like an age; and the mystery behind his existence seems to have only deepened. We knew that he sought to die, probably by natsu’s hands back at tenroujima. But he seems to have had a change of heart. Zeref is turning out to be that misunderstood savior/villain we have seen before in anime, the one that loses faith in mankind and believes that its salvation lies only in its destruction. It should be an interesting back story that Hiro is preparing to tell. The question is how Zeref and his plans are linked to Tartaros.
We have not heard about the baram alliance for a while. The first time we learnt of it was during the oracion seis arc, when we learnt of an alliance of the most powerful dark guilds around and the magical council’s plans to eliminate it, starting with Oracion seis which was eliminated by an alliance of fairy tail and Pegasus blue. They have proven to be an interesting plot so far. The Oracion seis and Grimoire heart related arcs, two members of the alliance, have proven to be impressive stories. I expect this to be even better.
RATING:>3/5, admittedly after thinking about it, i enjoyed these three chapters, though specifically the last ones. The first one for the most part didn’t matter. The art in all three chapters was pretty amazing, i will give hiro that much credit. He started off slow with 338 but by 340 i could feel that old fairy magic return, it was an ‘almost excitement’ that i felt. But anything with Zeref usually bodes great things to come.

It has been quite a few chapters since the end of the Daimatou Enbu and i am still far from comfortable with fairy tail. Every time a new chapter of fairy tail is released, i read it with bated breath, mostly because i am expecting Hiro to royally screw up in one way or another regarding the story. I thought i was comfortable after last week’s chapter, but there are still so many ways this can go wrong that i won’t rest easy till this arc is closed.

THE PLOT:>

Lucy tries and fails to seal the gates. She simply isn’t strong enough. Meanwhile the dragons are still pouring out. It is then that Yukino shows up, probably after a lengthy pep talk from MiraJane. Joining hands and powers, the pair celestial mages combine there respective keys to perform zodiac, a magic that allows them to summon all the 12 zodiac spirits and with their combined might they slam the gates shut.

But the situation is far from solved. There are still seven dragons on the loose. Rogue is initially unhappy with Lucy’s interference but soon sees the silver lining. Apparently future rogue is in possession of a dragon manipulation magic that once allowed him to control ten thousand dragons. But it seems that it was too difficult a task for him, because he comments that manipulating seven dragons will prove to be a much easier task.

He sets the dragons loose, impelling them to destroy each and every mage in the city. Team fairy tail, on the standby in the square is accosted by the flaming dragon atlas flame, while saber tooth must contend with a horned beast of their own. The team at the gate is left at the mercy of Zilconis, the very dragon whose ghost they met in the graveyard below. Meanwhile, Rogue mounts one dragon and begins to fly around the city, speaking of how the time of humanity had ended and the era of the dragons had began when he spots Natsu, atop a tower, clearly preparing to launch his counter offensive.

MY REVIEW:>

I have to admit, i am having a ball with the recent chapters of fairy tail. This is as action packed as i expect fairy tail to get and i only hope Hiro can keep it up. I have waited 300 chapters to see the dragons and Hiro hasn’t disappointed me. They look like absolute monsters and i can’t see how any of these mages, worn from battle, will survive he fight. The fact that Sting and Rogue are even bothering to involve themselves is laughable. That dragon is clearly going to slaughter.

Now we know that Rogue is evil. I thought it was a shame at first, but it is an improvement to his character, both of their characters since it is technically sting and rogue. With Rogue so easily wiping the floor with Natsu earlier on, i can’t see how the fire mage will come out on top this time. Whatever happens, Hiro better make it look good, because there is no amount of leveling up or power up available to Natsu that will enable him to [fairly] defeat Rogue WITH A BLOODY DRAGON BY HIS SIDE. Either way, i am stoked for next week’s chapter. If Hiro is wise he will focus in on one specific fight per chapter, rather than the unpleasant manner in which he split up 25 pages among multiple combatants and battles on the last day of the tournament.

We need an in depth look at each team and how they go about tackling the challenge that each dragon posses.

Lucy was kind of impressive in this one. When first introduced, Yukino was shown as a bad ass mage; she became excessively wimpy after that. This didn’t redeem her but the whole zodiac magic thing will look good if ever animated. Hopefully we can get to see a little more of her in the coming battle. Lucy can definitely stand to learn something from her as a celestial mage.

My favorite dragon of them all is atlas flame. The whole flaming body look is just…awesome. It is moments like this that i can’t help but acknowledge Hiro’s creativity in designing so many mages, magics and monsters. i can’t wait to see exactly how fairy fairs against the beast, if they survived that spray of flame. This is fairy tail at its best (almost) but no matter how good the story gets, it will be defined and best remembered by how it ends. If Hiro can close this story off satisfactorily, then..i can’t wait for next week’s mayhem.

PREDICTION: I actually don’t see Zeref playing any part in this arc. Rather i am expecting to see Igneel come to Natsu’s rescue. Even if he went dragon force, that would only enable him to contend with Rogue, but that dragon is more than even he can handle. Though there is Gajeel and his new shadow powers. Chances are we will see a team up, probably some kind of dragon slayer fusion type magic like Lucy almost did with her clone during the tournament. Team fairy tail is far from defeated as they have makarov on their side, though it will be interesting to see just what fairy law can do against it. Then their is Mavis. I assume Hiro is finally going to put her into play, though she has said that as a ghost she cannot do anything.

MY RATING:> 5/5. Sure i expect Hiro to screw up in one way or another in each chapter but he has not so far and i can only hope he doesn’t.

it is times like this where i wish fairy tail was a few pages longer so i could get a little more of it each week. Unsurprisingly the battle in this chapter was a little too short for my liking, which is a surprising thing for me to say as an anime fan. Most otaku out there will admit to having wished and hoped on several occasions that a fight in an anime or manga would cut down to at least half of its multi episode excessively long size. Yet here in fairy tail, i am actually wishing for the opposite, that the fights would last just a little bit longer. And it isn’t like we are talking about something Hiro hasn’t done before; there was a time during the S class arc were the fights just wouldn’t end. I guess someone out there complained and Hiro is listening, but at the wrong time.

THE PLOT:>

The long awaited day is here, July 7th, the very day 14years ago that the dragons disappeared. Makarov and other masters are going about organizing the guilds in preparation for the attack. Fairy tail will take center stage defending the central square, while the other guilds wait in the outskirts. Clearly even the tougher mages, the likes of Laxus and Erza, are far from peak fighting condition, but it is fairy tail, so maybe they are hoping to depend on more Nakama power.

Rogue and Natsu are engaged in battle. The have barely began to even taste each other’s strengths when Natsu suddenly decides to take it to the next level by activating his Lightning flame mode and decimating the tunnels with an awe striking attack. But while mildly amused, Rogue is far from impressed as he too decides to bring the battle to an end even before it truly began, by activating his white shadow dragon mode and bringing Natsu to his knees with a multi directional attack that doesn’t allow him to retaliate or defend.

Natsu is down for the count mostly, bleeding all over and barely able to stand. Rogue, clearly superior prepares to take him out when he is assaulted by crystal balls (sort of) that devastate the area he should have been standing in. By the time Ultear arrives at the scene, Rogue is gone. But rather than chase after him, her and Meredy have to deal with a more pressing matter. Natsu is depleted physically and is unable to to fight against a pool of shadows that begins to drag him down.

Elsewhere the great gates of the eclipse have began to open and as they all marvel at the light coming from within, Lucy moves forth to close the gates and stop eclipse…

MY REVIEW:>

It is easy to see why i would call this a pretty good chapter.

1. ROGUE KILLED STING?! WHY? This was a pretty shocking revelation for Rogue to make. Last time we saw him, Rogue had lost to Gajeel and was suddenly reciting the fairy tail mantra about friendship and all that. What in the world could happen in seven years to turn him into a murderer? Well, that is obvious i guess. The dragons attacked; the place rogue comes from is probably more hell than anything and living in such an existence can change people. None the less it was a shocking revelation. But i don’t know how much of it should be believed.

We have heard this before, with sting and rogue claiming they killed their dragons, which is silly if you think about it; they couldn’t have been more than infants by the time the dragons disappeared; how in the world could they have acquired the strength to kill their dragons. It is more than possible that Rogue is jesting, or maybe sting willingly gave up his life to empower rogue. Who knows? But clearly not everything that rogue says should be taken as it is.

2. NATSU VS ROGUE. Admittedly i thought it would be appropriate for Natsu to lose, but i didn’t think he would lose so brutally, so quickly and for rogue to be so bad ass. That (fusion) dragon transformation, with one part dark and the other part light, is truly formidable. I have been waiting to see more of Natsu’s lightning flame mode in this arc for a while, but i was surprised by how ineffective it was. I want to complain that this fight was too short, but really, we all know it is far from over. Chances are Natsu will find another opportunity to even the score. But i can’t complain for now; it was satisfying.

3.EVIL LUCY? I doubt anyone is going to believe that Lucy has gone bad. Either that isn’t the real Lucy, or she is being brainwashed. What would make this plot better is if Lucy was actually acting on her own volition, rather than some external force, because then it doesn’t just become a matter of defeating this unseen force and everything returns back to normal. Hiro has a chance right here to make something more of Lucy. Let’s face it, even the future Lucy plot was a waste as Lucy would have been of absolutely no use in saving the future. Another reason her death meant nothing.

If anything, now we know that Rogue was right, and whatever his actions so far, it would be a stretch to call him evil. He came back to save the future and he has the power to do it, unlike Lucy. But that last scene did surprise me, that Rogue was right and Lucy would close the door. I can only imagine the anxiety felt by those watching as the gate opens, knowing that it took seven years to collect the necessary magic to empower it and one small mistake will not only throw away all their efforts but doom humanity; and then Lucy starts speaking of closing the gate. I can see Arcadios killing Lucy instantly, and he wouldn’t be wrong. The dragons have to be stopped at all costs; whether or not Lucy is under nefarious control makes no difference.

MY RATING:> 4/5, this was a good chapter. Now with Hiro being who he is, i can only hope he doesn’t mess things up next week because that would be within his character.

Terminology

In the world of Fairy Tail, there are concepts that you must know by now.

  • Guild - A union between a group of people to reach a common goal. The benefits of creating a guild are the protection, promise of jobs and money, and a place in society.
  • Dragon Slayers - Originally, these mages use their dragon based magic to slay dragons. Now, there are two mages, who were taught by a dragon, use their magic for their missions.
  • Celestial Wizards and Spirits - A Celestial Wizard uses the power of Celestial Spirits who are beings from another world. By making a contract, they can summon their partners by using a gate key to open a portal. As of now, the types of gate keys are silver and gold. Silver is regular while gold is for the 12 Zodiac spirits who are the top beings of the Celestial World.

Verdict

Fairy Tail's two arcs show the tenacity and the perseverance of these young mages who will not stop fighting to save their friends and their guild. To abandon their friend is taboo. There are a lot of action and major battles in the Phantom Guild such as a huge showdown between Element Four and Fairy Tail's finest mages. Also, you get to see some of Fairy Tail's mages' past history such as Happy's origin, Gray's past, and much more.

You can watch Fairy Tail legally at Crunchyroll, Funimation, or HULU.

Welcome to Fairy Tail report! I'm Taka, one of the wiki editors working with a team on the Fairy Tail franchise. Last week's episode introduced a new character named Michelle Lobster, and it is a good yet mellow episode. This week's episode promises a showdown between Natsu and Laxus.

Plot

"Natsu and Laxus are going to fight and the other members of Fairy Tail can't wait to see it... except for Erza and Gray, who are off on a mission to capture some bandits and their wizard bodyguards! Meanwhile, Lucy is still trying to figure out the meaning of the ancient characters on her father's memento."

By Crunchyroll

Will Lucy be able to crack the riddle and will Natsu prove himself against Laxus?

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Gray: She looks so cute when she's sleeping
Gray: She looks so cute when she's sleeping
  • I loved watching Juvia's reactions as she spies on Gray and Erza on their mission. Things get hot and awkward for dear old Juvia when she sees them sleeping next to each other.
  • Pantherlily's quote about Gajeel makes my day as well. "I've lost respect for you, Gajeel!"

Bad

  • The title is misleading. It was not a real battle, and Natsu shows how weak he is despite his battle with Laxus during the Fighting Festival arc.
  • Sometimes, you want Laxus and Makarov to patch things up, but it doesn't happen in this episode.

Bizarre

Laxus: Freed, don't be so clingy
Laxus: Freed, don't be so clingy
  • When did Freed get so clingy to Laxus?
  • The Earthland counterparts for Coco, Hughes, and Sugarboy show up at the end of the episode.

Overall, this episode lies about the big battle, but it brings some attention towards Laxus and his relationship with Makarov. Also, Lucy, Michelle, and Levy find out that Jude's memento is a hand of a clock. I thought it was a key. Plus, Gajeel, Gray, and Juvia had some great hilarious scenes.

What did you guys thought about the object at first?

Gallery

Please enjoy the episode's gallery.

Here's a reenactment of the battle between Natsu and Laxus.

Natsu: "Roar!"
Natsu: "Roar!"
Laxus: ....
Laxus: ....
Then, boom with one hit! What the hell?!
Then, boom with one hit! What the hell?!

I just felt the title makes everyone angry or disappointed. I expected more of a battle.

Overview

Welcome to the weekly Fairy Tail report! This week is bit a strange with the reports. Sreenivas already has written episode 123's report. For consistency, let's catch up.

Plot

Let's Join Hands - "Te o Tsunagō" (手をつなごう)

Let's Join Hands
Let's Join Hands

Continuing from Cana and Gildartz's beautiful family reunion, Acnologia arrives to ruin Fairy Tail's peaceful moment. This wicked dragon is the scourge of humanity and wreaks havoc on the island. When Makarov holds Acnologia down, he tells his guild to retreat. Will Fairy Tail guild fight or run away?

Find out by watching Fairy Tail episode 122!

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Damn Gray!
Damn Gray!
  • This episode have some humorous moments with potential love interests: Gray & Juvia and Elfman & Evergreen. It makes me wonder if Evergreen can change Elfman's personality in the near future. Juvia is so slick that Gray didn't realize he was sitting on her buttocks.
  • The combined attacks with Laxus's group and the Dragon Slayers' combined Roar combo is awesome and the animation flows smoothly.

Questions and Concerns

I didn't have much bad stuff to report. I did a questions and concerns section for it.

Fairy Tail Anime's Fate?
Fairy Tail Anime's Fate?
  • I had one question: would these two combo attacks count as a Unison Raid. The only problem is that no one state these combo attacks were Unison Raids. Every time a Unison Raid occurs, there is a character to confirm it.
  • Anime and Manga Pacing: Sreenivas and many fans pointed out that the anime is catching up to the manga. There is no hint of fillers yet to come in order to slow down the anime. I'm concern about the anime's future because it could suffer the same fate as many other animes who caught up too fast.

This episode marks the end of the S-Class Trial/Tenrou Island arc. Fairy Tail is entering a new arc, X791. It's a time skip event in Fairy Tail. This episode gets a four of out five.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for reading my team's reports. I thank my teammates for their hard work in the community.

For the weekly reports, my main wiki projects are Fairy Tail, Sket Dance, Beelzebub, and Guilty Crown. Sreenivas, my teammate for Fairy Tail and Beelzebub, has written One Piece and Naruto reports.

Wiki Progress: I'm updating Romeo, Bisca, and Alzack's time skip appearances under the evolution section. Also, I finished episode 121's wiki page.
