Magic Knight Rayearth

This is one of CLAMP's older and perhaps one of the most well known manga and anime series. The show's first episode aired on October 17. 1994. There are a total of twenty episodes in the first season. The second season technically has thirty episodes, however the last episode is simply an hour long recap of the events that occurred in the both the first and second seasons. There is also an OAV series which has the same basic plot as the original series, however the art style is very different, events and characters are changed.

This series tells the epic story about how three girls, Hikaru Shidou, Fuu Houji, and Umi Ryuuzakii, from modern day Tokyo are transported to a magical world called Cephiro and become the three legendary Magic Knights prophesied to save Cephiro from destruction. The personal growth of each girl is tied in with the growth of their powers. The nature and strength of true friendship is a major theme within the show.
