The film, directed by Galaxy Express 999 and Metropolis's famed director Rintaro, is intended to be a “3D anime,” meaning that unlike the attempts at realism in films like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within or Appleseed Ex Machina, Yona Yona Penguin will be completely anime-style, but 3D-ified. Also unlike many such films, a number of arrangements have already been made for the film's global release: three different versions are being made (one in Japanese, one in French, and one in English). Shochiku and Madhouse's US arm are in charge of any North American releases; there are already companies in place for UK, French, and Russian releases, among others.
So now the only question that remains is...what the heck is the movie about? There's no official website, and not a lot of visuals are floating around the 'net either. Looks cute though.
