Machi is Ayane's older sister. She's a rather lazy but skilled shrine maiden. Despite her short stature she is actually eighteen years of age. She takes great pleasure in torturing her little sister and is one of Ikuto's many suitors.

Machi is a main character in the Nagasarete Airantou series that was created by Takeshi Fujishiro. The series first began serialization in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine in January 2002.
Her first appearance was in Nagasarete Airantou Volume 1 CH. 1 "Drifted Away", and her first anime appearance was in Nagasarete Airantou - Episode 1 "Drifted to Paradise!?". Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Mikako Takahashi.
