Machi Kuragi

When Yuki becomes the student council president, Machi becomes the treasurer during his term. The younger half-sister of Kakeru, Machi is a quiet, emotionless girl who shows great difficulty expressing herself and has a habit of displaying destructive behavior on occasions, mainly in the student council meeting room. When she was younger, Machi and Kakeru's mothers competed with one another to see who could raise a successful heir which ended when Kakeru drops out of the competition. When her mother gave birth to a son, Machi was sent to live separately from her family a while afterward as her mother thought Machi resented her brother and was a danger to her younger brother since the brother met up to her mother's expectations better. Because of the pressure Machi's mother put on her to be perfect, Machi is disgusted with things that are orderly such as a neat room, freshly-fallen snow and new pieces of chalk. 
 
Unlike other girls in the school, Machi doesn't see Yuki as a perfect prince as she sees him as a normal boy dealing with his personal loneliness. This difference in personality and her troubled behavior brings Yuki to take an interest in Machi who makes several attempts to befriend the girl. Because of these interactions, Machi comes to develop feelings for Yuki which the rat of the Sohmas returns shortly after the Sohma curse is broken. Machi also likes the children's anime Mogeta and she treasures the two stuffed character dolls from the series that Yuki gave her.
