Luffy bids farewell to Jimbei and turns responsibility for his training completely over to Rayleigh. On an island of unimaginable challenges, can Luffy learn enough from Rayleigh - and train himself enough - in order to unlock the power of Haki?

Points of Interest

  • Much of the Straw Hat's training that is shown in this episode was never seen in the manga.
  • In the original manga version, Luffy never tried attacking the giant elephant.
  • This episode, the names of the different Haki abilities are revealed. What was called Mantra in Skypiea is actually Observation Haki.
  • This is the first episode that Luffy is made aware that he has the Haki power.
  • It's revealed this episode that Shanks used Haki on the sea creature that took his arm when he saved Luffy. This was seen in Episode 4. It's the earliest story example of Haki being used in the One Piece series.
  • The song played at the end montage is "We Are!", the first opening of the One Piece series.
  • This is the first episode of One Piece to not show "To Be Continued" at the end. It's replaced with "Go To New World".
