Plot Summary

Flare points to Asuka
Flare points to Asuka

After Pantherlily, Mavis, and Happy go over the points for the battle match and current status for the Fairy Tail teams, Lucy and Flare walk to the battlefield for their first match. She summons Taurus first and then Scorpio. With Scorpio's sand buster move, Taurus combines his moves to create a Sandstorm Axe. Flare gets hit, and she uses her hair attack. Lucy summons Cancer who cuts apart Flare's attack. Flare attacks Lucy with her long hair that wraps around her ankles, burning them. To counter Flare's attack, Lucy uses Fleuve d'étoiles to get free. Max, Warren, and Nab cheer on Lucy. Lucy takes off her boots, and Flare gets angry at Lucy for damaging her hair. Hibiki and his teammates comment on Lucy's improvement in her magic. On the battlefield, Flare sends her hair into the ground, and Lucy looks around for her attack. Lucy spots Flare pointing over to Makarov's crowd who are cheering on. She sees Flare's hair looming close to Asuka, and Flare binds Lucy's mouth. Meanwhile, a knight comments that girl (Lucy) has ripened and utters the word, Zeref. Makarov senses something but disregards it.

In the announcer's booth, Chapati and Yajima comments on the battle while Flare threatens Lucy and tells Lucy to not use magic at all. Jura and Shelia wonder if Lucy has run out of magic. Erza and Elfman watch in horror as Lucy is beaten relentlessly by Flare's hair. Flare drags Lucy across the wall, and the crowd and Fairy Tail are roaring. Flare turns up the heat, and when Lucy is about to give up, Flare binds Lucy, and she prepares to torture Lucy with malicious intent. She talks about she would take off Lucy's closes, but she has a better idea, branding Lucy with Raven's Tail insignia. When Flare is about to brand Lucy's hand, Natsu rushes through the crowd and grabs the hair. Natsu yells to Lucy to do it now, and Lucy summons Gemini who tackles Flare. Lucy has Gemini copy herself, but Lucy scolds Gemini for being in a towel. Everyone else is either aroused or jealous (Mavis). When Lucy and Gemini power up their magic, Hibiki realizes the magic. Lucy prepares to unleash Urano Metria, and Flare looks in horror when the attack lands. However, it appears Lucy's magic has been canceled out along with Gemin's disappearance. Flare looks at Obra and realizes it's Obra's doing. Chapati asks Yajima who is angry and suspicious about Lucy's magic mysteriously disappearing. The announcer states that Flare has won, and Makarov and the others suspect that Raven Tail interfered with the match. The crowd heckles Fairy Tail, and Jura comments on how Raven Tail made a cowardly act while nobody normal else could see it. Natsu walks up to Lucy and cheers her up, and he tells her that she has done well. He says that they will turn this fight around, and Lucy grabs his hands while trying to stop her tears.

Points of Interest

  • According to Levy, Gemini can only copy abilities on level with its master. It cannot copy anyone more powerful than Lucy (IE: Erza and Laxus).
  • During the Gemini copying Lucy scene, there are two female characters who have some insightful remarks. Jenny comments that Lucy has the right curves in the right place, and upon hearing this, Mavis looks at her body. Mavis might be a pettanko only in the anime version.
  • Yukino seems to be interested in Lucy's abilities.
  • The Blue Bunny and Ichiya are seen dancing in sync.
