Lucky Star is a slice-of-life manga about four girls ( Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki) as they go about their daily lives, with constant references to pop culture, as well as various shout outs to other manga and anime. There isn't much of a storyline, as the series is in 4koma format, instead opting to follow these never-aging students as they go about with their days, both in school and out of it.
Lucky Star was created by Kagami Yoshimizu, and was first serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Comptiq magazine in 2004.

Publishing History

Lucky Star was created by Kagami Yoshimizu, and was first serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Comptiq magazine in January 2004. Since the manga is in the 4koma style, it has also featured in various magazines under the Kadokawa Shoten label, including Shonen Ace, Newtype, CompAce, Dragon Magazine, Mobile Newtype and Kadokawa Hotline, where it runs for various lengths of time.
The first tankobon volume was released on January 8, 2005 by Kadokawa Shoten. Currently, eight volumes have been released.
There is also a spinoff series called Lucky Star Pocket Travelers, detailing what would happen if the girls shrunk to doll size, which lasted two volumes. It began serialization on November 26, 2007, and concluded a year later.
Bandai Books released the series in North America. They released their first volume in June 2009.

Konata Izumi
The blue-haired protagonist of Lucky Star. Konata is, at heart, a very out-and-out otaku, interested in lazing around, playing video games and watching anime. She is quite childish, but acts as a sort of leader for the other girls.
Kagami Hiiragi
Tsukasa's older twin sister. She is very loud, often getting angry at the other girls, although she can become quite shy and quiet, making her appear very much like a tsundere. Kagami isn't actually in the same class as the other girls, but often speaks to them.
Tsukasa Hiiragi
Kagami's younger twin sister. Tsukasa is quite good natured and sweet, but can often be quite clumsy. Tsukasa is also not very smart, acting as the boke to her sister's tsukkomi.
Miyuki Takara
A kind, polite girl from a wealthy family. She is the resident meganekko of the series. Miyuki always speaks in extremely polite Japanese, even to her friends.
