But the Haruhi concert took place in March 2007, during the peak (so far) of the franchise's popularity, even if it was a year after the anime aired. Lucky Star, on the other hand, aired almost two years ago now, and hasn't had quite the same level of insanity (though of course it still has plenty of fans-- and we're sad about no limited edition volume 6!).
Nonetheless, a Lucky Star live event is going to occur on March 29, and in a venue with four times as many seats as Haruhi's event. I can't help but wonder if it will manage to fill up at this point, especially since fans may be building up some ire against Kadokawa-- but there's still the star-studded cast list. Three of the main four actresses will be there: Aya Hirano (Konata), Emiri Katou (Kagami), and Kaori Fukuhara (Tsukasa), leaving Aya Endou (Miyuki) missing. Minori Chihara (Haruhi's Yuki / Lucky Star's Minami Iwasaki) will be there as well, and of course, Minoru Shiraishi (...himself).
What do you think? Given that standing-room tickets run about $68 USD and seated tickets are about $80 USD, would you go if you were going to be in Japan anyway? I'd think about it.
