This popular 4koma comic strip started running in Comptiq in 2004 and was eventually adapted into an extremely popular anime.
Comparisons of this slice-of-life anime are often made to Azumanga Daioh, another largely plot-less series focusing on the interactions of various girls in high school. However, Lucky Star's heroine Konata is an obsessive otaku who spends the majority of her time reading manga and playing MMORPGs...when she's not playing H-games her father bought. Her father was also an otaku, and Konata is left with her mother's young, cute appearance and her father's hobbies. Her mother passed away when she was very young. Joining Konata is her classmate Tsukasa, a shy be-ribboned girl who happens to look very much like a character from a particular eroge, which may be what drew Konata's attention originally. Tsukasa comes part and parcel with her twin sister Kagami; although Kagami is in a different class than Konata and Tsukasa in school, she often joins them for lunch and other activities. Rounding out the foursome is Miyuki, a pretty and slightly oblivious glasses-girl with encyclopedic knowledge of a number of topics that leaves the others in awe (although Kagami is a hard-working student as well, unlike Tsukasa and Konata). Eventually the cast expands to include Konata's younger cousin Yutaka, who becomes a first-year at Konata's school, and her circle of friends, as well as friends from Kagami's class. Name: |
