In this episode, the students are seen learning lessons of magic and wonder at the Tristain(sp?) Academy. Louise de la Valliere is constantly mocked because all of her attempts to cast magic end up in explosions, so she vows to her classmates Kirche and Tabitha that she will summon the greatest familiar ever at the ceremony to be held the next day.
After all the students summon their familiars, Louise comes up and uses a high-minded incantation, resulting in yet another explosion. However, when the smoke clears, she appears to have summoned a normal Japanese boy named Saito Hiraga by mistake. Her teacher tells her that even so, the boy was the familiar she summoned, so she'll have to live with it. Reluctantly, Louise binds Saito as her familiar.
Later, she treats him like a mere servant. Saito looks for a way out of the school, and ends up running past several other students, whom Louise then demands help in catching him. As Saito finally makes it outside, Guiche uses his own magic to lift Saito up in the air, leaving him helpless. He looks up at the sky and sees two moons, meaning that he is on a very different world than the one he left.
