Lin

Overview

Lin is a major supporting character in Fist of the North Star. She is introduced as a young orphan traumatized by the sight of her parents' brutal murder by bandits. The horror she witnessed affected her so greatly that after that point, she lost the ability to speak. After Kenshiro is jailed by the village for stealing water, she attempts to help by secretly providing him with food and water. Kenshiro then returns her kindness by using a Hokuto Shinken technique to help her regain her voice.

Shortly thereafter, the village is attacked by bandits led by Zeed, who captures Lin and threatens to rip her head off if his demands aren't met. Unable to abide this inhumanity, Ken breaks free of his cell and fearlessly marches toward Zeed in order to rescue her. Lin, seeing Ken, shouts his name and pleads for him to stay back, surprising the villagers with her first words since the day she was traumatized. Kenshiro, however, defeats Zeed's gang and kills Zeed without allowing Lin to come to any harm.

From that moment on, Lin becomes infatuated with Kenshiro and is heartbroken when he leaves the village on his journey. Wanting to see him again, she sneaks aboard a transport and, though she is captured by slavers, is once again rescued by Kenshiro and Bat, and becomes another of Ken's traveling companions.
