The Main protagonists is Kahoko Hino, an average student at Seiso Academy. Seiso Academy is basically divided with the regular students in one part and the musically talented students in another part of school, in which the students rarely intermingle. There is a story that a man saw a fairy who no one else could see. The fairy was elated , and in return, the fairy blessed him, crossing over to the academy and such. One fateful day, Kahoko is late class and ends up seeing the fairy, Lili. Lili decides to help Kahoko, or bestow her with a blessing. She gives Kahoko a magical violin that grants her the ability to play as if she had been playing for years. The catch is that, Kahoko still has to put in effort and she was automatically entered into the prestigious Seiso Academy Music competition, that has given birth to some of Japan's elite artists. As long as kahoko knows the tune, and plays with her heart she will sound beautiful, thus making what she is doing less based on skill and more based on mentality and will. Through out the competition Kahoko meets various different academy contestants including a surplus of guys , the main ones all treat her differently , yet at the same time like her. Through dealing with the deception of her violin skills , and trial and error of them, she must also deal with the emotions that the different new people around her evoke.
