The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On!, and Lucky Star, or hate 'em, you can't deny that Kyoto Animation has a pretty big following in Japan these days...but it looks like they might be running out of ideas. KyoAni has launched its own special award for original novels, manga, and scripts.
The new award will offer a grand prize in each of the three categories of ¥300,000 (about $3,350 USD), as well as an honorable mention prize of ¥100,000 (about $1,100 USD). The deadline is January 15th, and it looks like there are no restrictions on location, as well as none on whether you're a pro or an amateur, what genre, etc.
Winning entries that are popular will have the possibility of getting animated by KyoAni. I know at least one of our readers has dreams of making his own anime, and I'd bet more than a few of you are secretly interested in the same...here's your shot! Find a Japanese translator and send it in!
