Yomi is patient, intelligent, and serious about her education. Of all of the Azumanga Daioh characters she is probably the most grounded in reality. She thinks of herself as more mature than her childish classmates, although she sometimes reveals her own childish side (such as when she asked Chiyo-chan to give her an amulet to help her on her college exams). She also occasionally shows her wicked sense of humor, such as when she convinced Osaka to try one of her super-spicy croquettes after Osaka said she didn't like spicy foods.Yomi is also unhappy with her weight and affection for food, and often tries new diets.
