A pro boxer, although some would argue against that. He is madly in love with Sister Angela.
As a teenager, Kosaku Hatanaka's prodigious boxing skills and talent caught the eye of Coach Mukoda and he ultimately quit high school to dedicate himself towards boxing. Kosaku became the first professional boxer ever produced by Mukoda's Gym, passing the professional test on his first try and winning his first bout with a knockout. Great things were expected of him. He was considered to be an up-and-coming, a major talent.
Hatanaka unfortunately is a glutton who loved eating and despises weight training. For his next match, he was overweight and had to try and drop the pounds with laxatives and was slaughtered. Three years have passed and Kosaku is regarded as "The Shame of the Boxing World" with his tendency to jump weight classes and even throwing up in the ring with a good body blow on occasion for his inability to control his appetite and pigging out as soon as he finishes weighing in. Instead of Mukoda's bright champion, he's become the bane of his coach's existence.
All and all, few reputable boxers want to have a bout with him; after all, if they win, it's expected and little glory while if by some freakish chance they LOSE, it's a defeat that they'll never be able to live down. As a result, Kosaku finds himself facing an array of oddballs and unconventional boxers while he struggles with his weight in-between he pines for the lovely Sister Angela, a novice nun at a nearby convent. Angela takes pity on Kosaku and tries to encourage him to succeed. Can her faith redeem the gluttonous appetite of the tempted lamb astride the scale?
But closeness often breeds affection and Sister Angela finds herself tested by the growing fondness that she feels for the hapless boxer.
