Koji "Koogy" Makaino is a musician and mangaka in Bakuman who tries to become a successful mangaka through his popularity as a rock star.

Koji "Koogy" Makaino is a rock star who grew up in Tokyo and became successful musician over time. One day, he figured that he could strike it big in the manga industry by submitting something to Jump in order to become serialized. Even though he has good skills as an artist, his work itself is bizarre and nonsensical. Nothing that he produces makes sense and leaves most of his readers confused, including the fellow mangaka on Team Fukuda.
He appears to be a cocky and arrogant musician who prefers to take the easy way out as opposed to putting in all of his effort into the manga work that he produces.

Koogy was created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. He was created to be the first real villain of the series since he was trying to use a loophole to get an unfair advantage over the other mangakas in the industry. He makes his first appearance in Chapter 29 of the manga and episode 21 of the anime. He is voiced by Shotarou Morikubo in the Japanese version.
