1952- . Sometimes miscredited as Koichi Mashita. Born in Tokyo, he began his media career in TV documentaries and commercials, before joining Tatsunoko in 1975. He went freelance in 1984, subsequently set-ting up the company Office Free Hands. He is the long-serving director of anime from Dirty Pair through Ai City, to modern works such as Noir and .hack.
