Knuckles is a powerful Echidna entrusted with guarding the Master Emerald. He can be a little gullible at times, which Eggman takes advantage of.
Knuckles was at first a rival of Sonic, and they did not have a good start, they have fought each other many times, however, when the world is in danger he puts his differences aside and saves the world.
Knuckles is very strong-willed, and can be stubborn, but he is no fool, and so does not let his pride get in the way. Knuckles is a very gifted individual, and he is very able and skillful, and so is vital to the team. Eventually, Sonic and Knuckles become good friends.
