Kiyone Kotetsu is a member of the 13th Division of the Gotei 13, under Captain Jushirou Ukitake; and shares the 3rd Seat position with Sentaro Kotsubaki.
Kiyone Kotetsu was a Soul Reaper in the 13th Division of the Gotei 13, under the command of Jushirou Ukitake. Her older sister, Isane Kotetsu, joined the 4th Division. One day, Rukia Kuchiki was appointed to the 13th Division without graduating the Shino Academy. Both she and Sentaro Kotsubaki were drunk as they listened into Lieutenant Kaien Shiba introduced himself. They then drunkenly welcomed the timid Rukia, and Kaien kicked them back out to their posts.
Shortly after the death of Kaien and his wife, Miyako Shiba. Both Kiyone and Sentaro were promoted to share the position of 3rd Seat. She gave Rukia her mission to patrol the Human World for one month, but assured her that she wasn't going to be transferred.
The character of Kiyone Kotetsu is a supporting character of the BLEACH series that was created by Tite Kubo, It first began serialization Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2001. She was first introduced during the Soul Society: The Sneak Entry story arc story arc that began in Volume 9.
She first appeared in BLEACH Volume 14, CH. 119 "Secret of the Moon", and her first anime appearance was in BLEACH - Episode 40 "The Shinigami Whom Ganju Met". Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Chinami Nishimura, and the U.S. dub produced by VIZ Media is done by Cindy Robinson.

Kiyone Kotetsuis a short young woman with an energetic and light personality. She has light-brown hair and gray eyes. She dressed moderately with a white collared-shirt and gloves. Unlike her older sister, Kiyone is generally excitable, though she does share her sister's sense of loyalty to her captain. Though her loyalties to Captain Ukitake border on the extreme. Both she and Sentaro Kotsubaki are in a constant rivalry of who is more dedicated. She's close to her sister, and the two visit each other frequently when off duty.

Rukia had gone missing and was arrested then summarily sentenced to be executed after she was brought back to the Soul Society. Weeks later, several humans invaded the Seireitei to rescue her. Their first rescue attempt by Ichigo Kurosaki and other was foiled by 6th Division Captain, Byakuya Kuchiki. Captain Ukitake arrived before any more blood was shed, and they had been following him. He instructed Kiyone and Sentaro Kotsubaki to put Rukia back in her cell, and they tried to reassure her. The pair then escorted Hanataro Yamada to Captain Retsu Unohana for his role in helping the intruders. Kiyone had to cover her ears due to Sentaro loudly reading aloud Captain Ukitake's report about Hantaro to Unohana.
On the day of Rukia's execution, Kiyone and Sentaro could see that the Sōkyoku was being unsealed. They called out the Ukitake to warn him it was beginning. They joined him as both he and Captain Shunsui Kyouraku went to destroy the Sōkyoku. They were successful in saving Rukia, but she was freed by Ichigo Kurosaki. Kiyone saw as her sister Isane and the other lieutenants chased after Rukia, but they were all beaten by Kurosaki barehanded. Kioyne tried to run to her sister's aide, but Captain Soi Fon beat her to the ground and stomped on her chest for her role in the betrayal. She was saved when a masked Yoruichi Shihoin dragged Soi Fon off Sōkyoku Hill and into the forest below. Captain Unohana gathered Kiyone, Isane, and the other wounded lieutenants with her Shikai and took them to the 4th Division base for medical treatment.
It was soon revealed that Captain Sousuke Aizen was responsible for the recent chaos, and the charges against Rukia. He claimed the Hogyoku then escaped to Hueco Mundo, along with Captains Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tousen. All criminal charges against Rukia were dropped, and the humans were now their allies for the coming war with Aizen.
As the Soul Society was preparing for the conflict with Aizen and his Arrancar Hollow army, Rukia returned to the Soul Society to request Captain Ukitake open the training grounds for her to help Orihime Inoue improve her skills. Kioyne and Sentaro both bickered over which one of them had brought Orihime to meet Ukitake. As Ukitake watched over their training, Kiyone and Sentaro once again argued over who would being the captain the tea.
Isane possesses exceptional skill and power as a lieutenant in the Gotei 13 and graduated from the Shino Academy. The extent o Kiyone's training has not been revealed since she's never been seen in battle.
The Zanpakuto is the weapon of the Soul Reaper to defeat the Hollows and send the spirits of the dead in the Human World to the Soul Society. All Soul Reapers have a Zanpakuto, but Kiyone's has never been seen.
Kiyone Kotetsu is a character in BLEACH and has made numerous appearances in the different products based on Tite Kubo's original manga. These include the anime, animated movies, and video games.
In the original anime that aired in Japan of Tite Kubo's BLEACH series, Kiyone is a popular character that's made brief appearances in even filler arcs. In the Shinigami Cup omake's, she is shown to be a member of the Shinigami Women's Association.
Kiyone appears very briefly in the second opening theme of the BLEACH series, along with Ukitake and Sentaro; but her hair is colored silver.
