In late 1941, textile trader Mr. Murakami takes his son Wataru on a business trip out of his home base in Nairobi, Kenya. They are attacked by a rampaging rhinoceros and separate to escape it, but Murakami is found by the British. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the British and Japanese are now at war, so Murakami is arrested. Wataru is taken in by Masai tribesmen and goes native, heading off in search of his father, with time out for Indiana Jones-style adventures with lions, elephants, a lost valley of dinosaurs, a giant snake, and a slimy Nazi spy. Based on Soji Yamakawa's novel The Boy King, this movie uses heavy rotoscoping techniques from former live-action director Obayashi to impart a more realistic look to many of the scenes. Compare to Ken the Wolf Boy and Bushbaby.
