A Japanese screenplay writer best known as the creator of Wolf's Rain.

Born on Hokkaido in 1964, Nobumoto graduated from the Asahikawa School of Nursing before attending the Third Anime Scenario House workshop in 1987; she won a Fuji TV new writer's prize two years later. She has written many live-action TV scripts, largely for the channel that first nurtured her talent, including Give Me Good Love (*DE) and LxIxVxE (*DE), and movies, including Tokyo Godfathers and the live-action World Apartment Horror (1991) and Nurse Call (1993). She has written many of the better anime scripts of recent years, justifying comparisons with Kazunori Ito. Her greatest achievements include the superb recycling of old themes in Macross Plus, and many crucial episodes of Cowboy Bebop. Her recent work includes Wolf's Rain, and she has also written novels, including the prose adaptation of her own Macross Plus scripts.
