Kazutaka Muraki is created by Yoko Matsushita, and he has no information regarding any inspiration used to create him. His Japanese seiyuu is Sho Hayami, and his American voice actor is Edward MacLeod. His Italian voice actor is Ivo De Palma.
Muraki always wear white which many characters such as Tsubaki see him as an innocent person. This color contrasts with Muraki's true nature.
He is extremely adept at manipulation, often playing the nice, angelic doctor when he is actually a brutal murderer.
- Kurosaki Hisoka - He has many victims, Kurosaki Hisoka being one of them. When the thirteen year old boy witnessed one of his murders, Kazutaka raped him, and cursed him to die of an incurable disease in three years' time along with erasing his memory.
- Asato Tsuzuki - He is shown to be obsessed with Asato Tsuzuki. Because of that, he tends to sexually harass him, even going so far as to make the shinigami wager his body in a poker game and offering to give him a physical examination ("I'll check there, there, and of course, there.") which Tsuzuki clearly declined. (King of Swords arc). In another example, he gives Tsuzuki red roses because they symbolize "passion"; his attempt was only brushed off by Tsuzuki thinking it was just more harassment. He is hated by Tsuzuki because of his serial killing and manipulation, but he knows Tsuzuki can't kill him because it goes against the shinigami's nature. He is very mysterious as well. Although he is human (mostly), he possesses a long list of supernatural abilities. That only adds to what a challenging opponent he is.
