Kazune Yasuri

Origin

While practicing swordplay in the woods, Kazune found himself in the company of a mysterious figure that belittled his complete lack of skill with a blade. Refusing to quit his training and vowing to work hard, his words eventually gave the stranger a respect and admiration for the young man's drive and passion. Viewing him in a new light, the stranger offers to personally train the young man in a way that would plant the seeds of greatness in him, although it was up to Kazune as to whether or not the plant would grow. Intrigued, Kazune accepts the offer and the stranger finally introduces himself as Shikizaki Kiki and the two begin training using a swordless combat style that would eventually be known as Kyotouryuu.

Creation

Kazune is a character in the Katanagatari series of light novels written by Nishio Ishin, a popular Japanese writer, with illustrations by Take. He also appears in the anime series of the same name which was created by White Fox and directed by Keitaro Motonaga. Kazune, voiced by Atsushi Abe, makes his first appearance in the anime series during Episode 11 "Gild, the Poison".
