Kazu Ishii

Origin

Kazu Ishi is a student of Fujimi High School in Tokonosu Prefecture. He enjoys being the doting assistant to the voluptuous school doctor, Shizuka Marikawa.

Creation

Highschool of the Dead Vol. 1 JPN (2007)

Kazu Ishii is a supporting character of the manga/anime series Highschool of the Dead that was written by Daisuke Sato and illustrated by Shouji Sato. The series first began serialization in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age magazine in July 2006.

His first appearance was in Hightschool of the Dead Volume 1 CH. 2 "Escape from the Dead", and his first anime appearance was in Highschool of the Dead - Episode 2 "Escape from the Dead". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Shinya Hamazoe, and the U.S. dub produced by Section 23 is done by Chris Patton.

Kazu Ishii defends himself

Kazu Ishii was hold up in the Fujimi High School's doctor's office with the school's doctor, Shizuka Marikawa. He did his best to assist her as students were coming to her for their injuries, but mo matter what they tried the victims continued to die and would rise again. Even one of his own friends, Okada, rose from the dead, and he was forced to kill him with a piece of medical equipment. Before he and Shizuka could escape, a swarm of Them ( zombies) broke through the door to the room. He did his best to protect Shizuka but was bitten. Even in this situation, Shizuka couldn't remember his name.

Kazu accepts Saeko's offer with a smile

Before Kazu could be completely killed, Saeko Busujima appeared and used her bokken to quickly crush the skulls of Them. She introduced herself and praised him for protecting the doctor. After asking his name, Saeko asked him if he would wish her to finish him off before he could change. Initially shocked at the proposal, with a smile he accepted the offer. Shizika attempted to protest, but Saeko told her that this was to protect his honor. With a skillfully swift strike, she crushed Kazu skull in a fast, painless death. He was the first living human she ever killed.
