Origin

Kassim and Mariam getting abused

He and his younger sister, Mariam, had a rough childhood where their drunken father abuse them. Alibaba's mother, Anise Saluja, took them in her family where Kassim and Alibaba played with the children in slum. After Anise had died, Alibaba and the others did jobs in order to survive while Kassim commit crime to do the same. When Kassim found out that Alibaba is the illegitimate son of King Rashid Saluja, Kassim told Alibaba that he never fit here in the Slums. The two broke into a fight, and Kassim never saw Alibaba for a long time.

Years later, Kassim bumps into Alibaba who told him how he escape from the castle using tunnels just like in their childhood game. Kassim did not told Alibaba what had happened to the slums, and when Alibaba was at the castle, Kassim has his gang rob the king's castle. This caused King Rashid to die from the shock. Years later in Balbadd, Alibaba found Kassim, and Kassim explains what has happened to the slums and his younger sister. He told him that government is corrupt and does not care about the impoverished. Kassim asked Alibaba to be the leader of the Fog Troupe to help fight against the Balbadd Royalty.

Creation

Kassim is created by Shinobu Ohtaka who has no information regarding any inspiration used to create him. He first appears in volume 4: chapter 35 and episode 2 as a flashback. He makes his official debut in episode 7. He is voiced by Jun Fukuyama.

Evolution

Appearance

Kassim has long, black dreadlocks, and he ties part of his hair into a ponytail with the rest of his dreadlocks flowing over his shoulders.

Personality

He's a determined man who has a narrow view on life when it comes to solving problems for his people. He believes the nobles and the government should pay in blood and that simple forgiveness will not be enough.

He possesses a magical item called the Sword of Shackling Ebony Fog. It allows him to use fog that is very dense and can be used to bind his enemies.
