After my first impressions of Karneval, it's an interesting and fun series to watch weekly. Here is the synopsis for the series.

Genre: Supernatural, Action, Sci-Fi,

Plot: Armed with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue, Nai searches for someone dear to him. After a run in with a pick-pocket named Gareki, the two find themselves involved in a government set-up that leaves them wanted criminals. Desperate and on-the-run, Nai and Gareki turn to the country’s most powerful defense organization--“Circus”--for help.

To me, the action and comedy in this show is what reels me in.

Verdict

Good

Gareki's view of Nai is just adorable

After a bit of introduction of the characters, it's the start of a beautiful relationship between Nai and Gareki. The show is driven on Nai - who is searching for Karoku. In episode 2, the Circus organization is being revealed. Yogi is an appealing and funny character who serves somewhat of a foil to Hirato - who is a serious man focused on his goals. Circus's purpose is to eradicate monsters that are called Varuga. Nai's origins are slowly being revealed in episodes 3 and 4. It turns out he is not a human being, but an animal called a Niji. It's pretty surprising. It makes more questions in the series. Who created Nai and who is Karoku?

Gareki's past is revealed in episode 5. After finding out who killed Gareki's adopted mother that leads to the death of Yotaka, Gareki and Tsubame gain closure. Episode 7 serves as a comic relief. It's pretty enjoyable and gives some spotlight to minor characters such as Iva, Kiichi, and Jiki. With episode 8, Yogi has a psychotic alter ego. It's quite a contrast to his innocent, cheery self.

Bad

Gareki's story wasn't that emotional

It's might be me, but I personally didn't feel much sympathy for Gareki and Tsubame's story. I did find Tsubame's scene touching where she found out that Gareki had been paying for her grandpa's operation touching.

Overall, this series is worth watching if you're into supernatural series filled with pretty boys.

Hello everyone! Today, I'm promoting Karneval, one of the spring 2013 anime series, by sharing my first impressions.

I tried the show because of its trailer (Spring 2013 Trailer: Karneval) and its colorful poster art. I'm still looking for anime series outside of my preference zone: comedy and shonen. I figured another Josei theme show after trying Natsuyuki Rendezvous series wouldn't hurt me.

Characters

Here is a brief overview of the characters along with my first impressions of them.

	Nai Nai is a mysterious boy whose age is unknown. I say Nai is about 14 years old. When I see Nai, he reminds me of Yashiro Isana from K. Though, I was surprised that he is voiced by Hiro Shimono, the man who voices Sasuke Tsubaki.
	Gareki Gareki is a 15 years old thief. Even though he does things for his own benefit, he is a nice guy deep inside.
	Hirato Hirato is 27 years old and the Second Ship's Captain. He takes the strict captain role.
	Tsukumo Tsukumo is 16 years old one of Circus Second Ship's fighters. She is quiet but tough as nails. I like her.
	Yogi Yogi is 21 years old and is one of the Circus Second Ship's fighters. When I first saw the guy, he was wearing a cat suit, Nyanperowna. I enjoyed Yogi in how he interacts with everyone. He eases the tense in the show.

First Impressions

The first episode showcased something unexpected. I was expecting the colorful things, but I watch a grisly scene of a monster chowing down a guy in the beginning. Then, it shifts to a train scene where Nai uses his special ability to find the bombs. The first episode hook me in because I wanted to find out more about Nai and this person, Karoku, whom Nai searches for. The cute, colorful, and comedic scenes shines in episode 2 and 3 with Yogi. This is when I started to enjoy Karneval and continue to watch the series.

Audience

It's for everyone who enjoys a bit of supernaturaI and mystery show along with some exciting action pieces. It looks like an innocent Josei show, but it could get dark a bit. I recommended the anime series to UsaChanMan - who loved it.

Genre: Supernatural, Fantasy

There are two main characters: Nai and Gareki. Nai is looking for a loved one with an abandoned bracelet for his only clue, and Gareki is a pickpocket. When the two meet each other in a mansion, they get set up as wanted criminals where they confront an organization called Circus.

Note: I have no idea what happened to the winter season trailers, but BigHeart711 and I found some spring 2013 trailers.

Amnesia	Genre: Shoujo, Romance, Reverse Harem? Based on an otome game, Amnesia is a romance adventure game targeted at female players. In the game, the protagonist wakes up to discover that she has no memories of the past, but tries to recall her memories through the help of a spirit named Orion. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman	Genre: Fantasy, History Main character Manjiro is a "helper" by day, but at night, he becomes Roman, a phantom thief "retriever" who steals back people's precious items that were unfairly taken from them. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Beast Saga	Genre: Adventure, Action This series takes place on a distant planet called Beast where three beast tribes fight each other to protect their honor, and an infinite elemental power source called Godlot. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Chihayafuru 2	Genre: Comedy, Drama Chihayafuru continues as main character Chihaya enters her second year of high school, and continues to chase her dream of being the number one karuta player in Japan. Check out the trailer and wiki page.

Cuticle Detective Inaba	Genre: Action, Comedy, Shonen, Mystery Inaba Hiroshi is a red-haired, part wolf detective with a hair fetish. Together with his questionably efficient assistants, they attempt to arrest his arch-enemy, Don Valentino, an evil mastermind goat with a taste (literally) for money. Date A Live	Genre: Romance, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Harem? Plot: In the story, a boy named Itsuka Shidou meets a spirit girl who has been rejected by a devastated world. The girl, who Shidou names "Tohka," happens to have wiped out much of humanity 30 years ago, and now she is back. The only way to stop her is to date her. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
D.C. III ~ Da Capo III ~	Genre: Romance, Moe, Fan Service Junichi Asakura lives with his adoptive sister Nemu in the crescent-shaped island of Hatsune Jima, a place where cherry blossoms bloom throughout the year. In this island, people have mysterious powers and attributes. For example, Junichi has the power to see other people's dreams, and he was also taught by his grandmother to magically create sweets. One day, Junichi's cousin and childhood friend, Sakura Yoshino came back from America all of a sudden. To Junichi's surprise, she looks exactly the same as the girl that moved away six years ago, and hasn't aged one bit. And she came back to remind Junichi of their childhood promise... Dokidoki! Precure	Genre: Magical Girl Dokidoki! Precure is the 10th series in the Precure franchise, and will have a motif that involves playing cards and Tarot. No trailer is available. Please check out the wiki page.
Encouragement of Climb	Genre: Moe, Slice of Life This series follows two childhood friends: Aoi, a girl who would rather stay indoors, and Hinata, a girl who loves mountains. They decide to climb a mountain in order to see the sunrise from its peak. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Ganbare! Lulu Lolo - The Tiny Bears	Genre: Comedy?, Educational The new anime centers around the daily life of two twin bear sisters: the orange-colored Lulu and the yellow-colored Lolo. The two take on new jobs and despite the occasional failure and tears, give their best efforts. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
gdgd Fairies Season 2	Genre: Fantasy, Comedy The second season of gdgd Fairies follows three little fairies with weak magical powers who live inside the trees in Fairy Forest. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
GJ-bu	Genre: Moe TV anime adaptation of the GJ-bu moe light novel series, dubbed as the "first four-panel novel", where each story is only four pages long with illustrations. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Haganai Next	Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy The Neighbor's Club—a club founded for the purpose of making friends, where misfortunate boys and girls with few friends live out their regrettable lives. Although Yozora Mikazuki faced a certain incident at the end of summer, the daily life of the Neighbor's Club goes on as usual. A strange nun, members of the student council and other new faces make an appearance, causing Kodaka Hasegawa's life to grow even busier. While they all enjoy going to the amusement park, playing games, celebrating birthdays, and challenging the “school festival”—a symbol of the school life normal people live—the relations amongst the members slowly begins to change… Let the next stage begin, on this unfortunate coming-of-age love comedy!! Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat	Genre: Romance, Comedy Plot: Yoto Yokodera's mind is always in the gutter, but no one seems to acknowledge that he's totally a pervert. One fine day, he visits a cat statue that he heard can grant wishes. He prays that he can express dirty things at any time. Hetalia The Beautiful World	Genre: Comedy This is the fifth installment in the Hetalia franchise. It re-imagines certain nations during famous historical periods as anthropomorphized characters in order to spoof them. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Ishida to Asakura	Genre: Comedy Ishida to Asakura focuses on the friendship of two high school boys, Asakura and Ishida, and is based on a Masao's surreal comedy manga. Check out the trailer and wiki page.

Maoyu	Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance The story is set in a world embroiled by war between Humans and Demons. The Humans' greatest hero invades the Demon Queen's castle determined to vanquish her. However, instead of fighting back, the Queen proposes an alliance with the Hero. She explains how a sudden end to the war can bring further chaos to the world as the Humans once united to stand against their common enemies would eventually begin fighting among themselves, with similar issues already occurring at the Demon Realm. Convinced by her words, the Hero joins forces with the Queen and together they execute a plan to bring prosperity and a lasting peace to both Humans and Demons alike. Minami-ke Tadaima	Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life This is the 4th season of Minami-ke. There are three of the Minami sisters: Haruka, Kana and Chiaki, who have an average life. Mondaiji Tachi Ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu Yo?	Genre: Action, Fantasy Alias: Problem Children are Coming from Another World, Aren't They? The story follows Iazyoi Sakamaki, a boy bored with the entire world. One day, an envelope arrives for him. The moment Izayoi opens the envelope, he is transported to an alternate world. There, he discovers that two other "problem children" were transported by envelopes as well - a taciturn girl named You Kasukabe with a cat, and a beautiful yet haughty girl named Asuka Kudou. My Little Sister is an Osaka Momma	Genre: ? Boku-no-imoutowa“Osaka-okan”, translated to “My Little Sister is an Osaka Momma,” tells the story of Kyosuke, a boy who has been reunited with his sister after 10 years of living apart. Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru	Genre: Romance and Comedy Known as My Girlfriend and Childhood Friend Fight Too Much Eita Kidō enters high school with the aim to attend medical school. Due to his parents getting divorced and his intention to maintain his grades, he shuns anything to do with romance or love. One day, the school beauty Masuzu Natsukawa invites him to walk home with her, though he initially refuses. After she continues to do this for several days, he gives in and walks home with her. Masuzu is tired of constantly getting confessed to by boys, so she suggests that she and Eita become a fake couple. RDG Red Data Girl	Genre: Fantasy Plot: The modern fantasy story revolves around Izumiko, a girl raised within the confines of Tamakura Shrine, one of the Kumano shrines that are part of a World Heritage site. However, after Izumiko spent practically her entire life at Kumano until middle school, she wants to become a normal girl. it was decided that she and her childhood friend Miyuki would enroll in Hōjō High School in Tokyo. On a school trip to Tokyo, a mysterious entity known as Himegami appears and a terrible incident occurs. Izumiko's family carries a great secret that Izumiko is about to learn. Senran Kagura	Genre: Action, Comedy, Plot: Senran Kagura is an anime series based on Marvelous AQL video series of the same name. It is being produced by Artland Animation Studio who are know for doing the Katekyo Hitman Rebore! series. The anime is being directed by Takahashi Watanabe, who has work on several series like Shakugan no Shana and the Slayer series. It's a comedic series about big booby ninja girls. Senyu	Genre: Comedy, Action, Fantasy, Shounen This series follows the adventures of Aruba and Rosu, two descendents of an ancient hero who long ago sealed away the demon king Rukimedesu. Now they must fight the demons which have suddenly appeared from a mysterious hole. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Tamako Market	Genre: Slice of Life Tamako Market follows the cheerful Tamako Kitashirakawa, the mochi-loving daughter of a mochi shopkeeper in the shopping district. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Alternative Two	Genre: Mystery, Comedy The spinoff specials are set in an alternate storyline in which the girl detectives do not lose the "Toys" that grant them special powers. They visit Opera Kobayashi in London, but as soon as they arrive, they are asked to solved a case of five paintings and confront the thief Moran. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
Vividred Operation	Genre: Sci-Fi, Moe? An original sci-fi action anime featuring a 14-year-old girl. The story takes place in a peaceful island filled with nature and technology. Check out the trailer and wiki page.
