Kaorin is probably best known for her obsession with fellow student Sakaki. She is prone to blushing in the taller girl's presence, making subtle attempts to get closer to her and becoming agitated when others get close to Sakaki, or get between the two of them. This has naturally led viewers of the series to wonder if Kaorin is a lesbian, but it's never explicitly stated, and in one of the recent Azumanga strips released in 2009 Kaorin denied it.
