Kanji Tatsumi

Origin

Kanji Tatsumi was born in Inaba, Japan in 1996. He is the son of the local textile worker as his mother runs the family business, mostly doing work for Yukiko Amagi's family. His father died when he was a young age and had mixed ideas of what it was to be a man. Kanji grew up without a strong role model in life and took interest in his mother's work. A few months before Souji Seta arrived in town, Kanji found and beat up the local biker gang for disturbing his mother, something that has earned him a negative reputation from most people in town. He is a first year student at Yasogami High School but is never seen actually attending.

Creation

Persona 4 PS2 (Jul 2008)

Kanji Tatsumi is a main character from the Shin Megami Tensei series of games and specifically the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 video game for the Playstation 2 . It's the sixth game of the franchise and was developed as a murder mystery RPG with deep social aspects. It was developed by ATLUS in Japan, directed by Katsuro Hashino , and character design by Shigenori Soejima . It was released in Japan in July 10, 2008, and in the U.S. on December 9, 2008.

The series was later adapted into a manga written and illustrated by Shuji Sogabe, and began serialization in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Black Maoh magazine on September 19, 2008. The anime adaption began in October of 2011 and is directed by Seiji Kishi.

His manga first appearance was in Persona 4 (chapter yet to be determined), and his first anime appearance was in Persona 4 The Animation - Episode 6 "I'll beat you, and beat you good". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Tomokazu Seki, and the U.S. dub has not been announced.

Kanji, along with the rest of the Investigation Team members, appears briefly in Chapter 1 of the manga during the introduction pages for the series.

Persona

Kanji uses the power of the Emperor Arcana and utilizes the power of Take-Mikazuchi. Once his Social Link is maxed out, his persona evolves into Rokuten-Mao. He is able to use lightning based attacks as well as physical attacks.

Ultimate Persona: Rokuten-Mao

Weapons

As a thug, Kanji uses massive ramming weapons in battle. From things like a desk to a chair to bigger things such as a shield are all used by Kanji.

Games

Kanji Tatsumi appears in the Playstation 2 game Persona 4. In the game, he is a victim of the Midnight Channel and saved by the Investigation Team. His Social Link explores how he doesn't like being notorious and wants to actually make dolls, something he considers un-manly. He is voiced by Tomokazu Seki in the Japanese game and Troy Baker in the dub.
