Kaname Chidori

Background

Kaname Chidori is the main female protagonist in FMP. She attends Jindai High School and is an idol student amongst her classmates. Being the representative of class 2-4, she is in charge of nearly all school activities her class partakes and has multiple part-time jobs due to living alone. Her father and sister live in New York; her father working in the United Nations as an environmental High Commissioner and her sister presumably attending school.  Tragically for Kaname, her mother passed away and her relations with her father are strained at best. However, she seems to maintain a perfectly happy relationship with her mother.

 One day, her normal life was turned up side down when Sousuke Sagara arrived. Without Kaname knowing, he was assigned to protect her, which results in many stressful situations for Kaname due to Sousuke's seemingly 'bizzare' and military-minded persona. As the story progresses, we find out the reason behind Sousuke's arrival is that she is one of the Whispered, a person who has hidden information about black technology. Naturally, Kaname has no idea about this fact, nor that she is being targeted by many groups who want to extract this information and use Kaname as they see fit. As Sousake is always looking after her, at first she thinks he’s weird as common sense is not his strong point, nor his actions fitting in with society in modern, peaceful Japan. Later when in danger, she becomes reliant on him and eventually has a crush on him, but does not reveal it to him.
